  1. Question: lent friend my welder, forgot he used it for flux months ago since I always use gas. I used the ground clamp on my PC while I've been replacing the thermal paste since I don't have a grounding mat. Is it ruined if I just realized it was still DCIP? (The ground to the + terminal, it was plugged in but switch flipped OFF)

i have never used a ground strap, i have never killed any pc component. i have been building P.C.'s since 8088xt's were a thing.

      you should be fine

I will forever use grounding precautions after I was in our lab doing die level testing and a guy came up and touched my oscilloscope and fried my IC. That was too many hours of prep work to be able to now see the literal damage from the static.

Needless to say if you just don't touch pins and stand on a hard surface with no socks, you should be fine if you don't get a dreaded static discharge.

I have a guy fry a CPU because he touched the pins ungrounded and undischarged without know what pins were. Luckely it was only an AMD 8350, but still quite a bit of money I wish I still had.
