  1. More than enough leg room for the GF and easily removable to put behind the seats if I need the leg room for someone bigger JJ
  2. I guess that is kinda cool haha! Going to have a play with the birch front today and see how it sits against the really modern use of the lexan hopefully it should turn out looking good although this is only 18mm sat here so will not bother varnishing it just get the edges routed over etc see how it looks with it. Thanks for the comments guy's I will update it as soon as my replacement sub arrives. JJ
  3. 18mm Birch ply is the same strength as 1" mdf ( in the UK Birch ply is really damn expensive) so most guys over here if we are trying to keep weight down as we don't got big ass trucks like you guy's we go for Birch on big installs my DC boxes are made from one inch Birch which is $130 a sheet. Also it looks hella pretty the one inch birch is torsionally as strong as 2" mdf. JJ
  4. Lexan yes. Lexan is the brand name for polycarbonate sheet and resin in a wide range of grades. Applications are mainly in three domains — building (glazing and domes), industry (machine protection and fabricated parts) and communication and signage. Common usages include space and sports helmets, clear high performance windshields and aircraft canopies, and bullet resistant windows. JJ
  5. It just slots into place mate but I will be using a L bracket from the glovebox fixing to the side of the box to make sure it is very secure but the wooden one which was heavier didn't move at all so I doubt this one will, it just fits between the floor and underside of the glove box I will take a picture of it in place so you can see. JJ
  6. Thanks for the opinions guy's it's a shame as the Mosconi amps look stunning and my interior colour scheme is working it's way towards white and black with orange lighting oh well 2k shoved up the DC's should get em louder at least maybe get the amps re sprayed. JJ
  7. If you have a new deck maybe the rca pre outs are higher out put than the old one causing the problem with the amp like these guys say. JJ
  8. I already have two lvl 4 15"s in the trunk this is to bring a bit more punch to the front will prob have it play 40-120hz ish with a bit of fiddling it should intergrate nicely the 15"s sound awesome and drop well and my front end is damn loud but this will allow me to turn the 15"s down from the matrix and listen at lower levels of volume with still having some low end extension. JJ
  9. It is for a Mercury (ford) cougar, the sub will go on the only face with nothing on it yet! Don't have the sub yet as am awaiting a new one from DC the original had a issue with it unfortunately. The reason the front is not on yet is I am not sure if I am going to mount it on 20mm lexan or use Birch ply on the front and varnish it for something a bit funky, modern and traditional all in one. It fits up againt the centre console and under the glovebox (not sure if you guy's call it that over there!). JJ
  10. Well first off I built a box out of mdf/birch which fitted lovely but lets be honest it is a bit of a boring home for such a cute little monster( DC lvl2 8" to match the 15" lvl 4's) so a new home was built for it................ Now this is the first time I have tried anything this ambitious with Lexan and only had a heat gunand brute force to do this and learnt a lot of lessons, there are some imperfections as I am sure some of you noticed but I will certainly be trying a few other things after the relative success of this one. JJ
  11. As said the front end is run by Sundown Sax amps so already class A/B running my mids and tweeters. Cheers JJ
  12. Thats helpful mate thanks I am more questioning whether more power is going to be better in which case I would go for the class D OR whether I will get a noticable gain in SQ by using a amp similar in power to the one's I am running now which are class D and switching to Class A/B. I thought the down side to class D was the square wave causing lesser SQ due to not forming full waves? ( I may be wrong but I am sure I read/heard that somewhere). Thanks for taking the time to reply. JJ
  13. All cabling is Tsunami, Sub's are DC lvl 4 15"s, running a pioneer HU and a audio control Matrix, front end is powered by sundown sax amps one per door. price for the A/B is the same as class D A/B amps would be mosconi as300.2 MOSCONI Class D would be cadence olympia CADENCE JJ
  14. I know the A/B option is power hungry but I have more batteries in store I can add and can also upgrade the alt too a 210amp (biggest I can get in but if I lose the a/c I can fit a second if needed) but a lot of people say the A/B will sound better the question is will it be a noticable difference. JJ
  15. Guy's I will be changing my amps soon to power my DC lvl 4 15"s and am looking at two options The first is class D 2000wRMS the second is class A/B but 1100wRMs they are currently running off of 1000wRMS class D, now my question is will I notice a distinct difference going from class D to A/B or would I be better served going for the extra power, now to let you know it is loud enough for me and already pushes the frameless windows away from the seals when listening to music it does a 146db all sealed up with TL in legal position (UK). Opinions please. Cheers JJ
  16. How you finding the Xion's dude I have the helon's in mine and they get loud as hell off of 40wRMS each easily enough to keep up with the two dc lvl 4's just about to install a third in each door. JJ
  17. Mine is 200rms per door and 1100 per sub. So 400wrms:2200wrms and hitting 146db JJ
  18. hmmm well I have 2 15" lvl 4 dc's, a 8" lvl 2 dc, 2 mids per door and 1 tweet per a pillar. The 8" is kind mid bass really 45hz ish upwards to around 120hz. so I will say 7:2 JJ
  19. Not familiar with eclipse units but I would guess it is the cut off freq for the subwoofer output mine is at 63hz mostly altho at lower volumes I do set it to 80hz and let the subs do a bit more work. JJ
  20. You had any progress with this yet dude?, got my footwell box built for mine running it sealed with around .4cuft (at a guess). JJ
  21. Have to say mixing sub sizes unless cut off freq are done well will not sound the best and mixing sub sizes in the same enclosure is definitely a no no you should only ever use matching speakers in a common enclosure. I am sure with the help you can get from here you will end up with a nice sounding system. JJ
  22. Eyes and ears are best tools dude I usually start by turning gain on amp to it's minimum turn the headunit up to the loudest I will have it then adjust the gain on the subs till they look/sound like they are not doing so well then knock it back a bit to be safe unless your silly with the gain you shouldn't damage the sub it becomes fairly obvious when your over driving the subs.
