Just did an amp swap... It did put out power to the sub but couldn't turn it up due to people sleeping, but at least i know now that it's the 20.1 Any idea of a ballpark figure for repair of my amp?

Haha, thanks for the replies. When the amp was working, or at least kinda, it would cut out around 14 volts. The power light was on even when it quit giving power to the sub. Actually now there isn't any output going to the sub at all. Gonna do an amp swap to make sure. For the record, i turn the volume down if i'm playing some decaf that i know is below tuning. Never had any issue with bottoming out/mechanical noise.

Look I was just helping on that issue too. And I already said it sounds like who ever sold you the amp had a issue. Yeah i got it from a guy off here. The deal was too good to be true i guess. But he did lie to me about it and send me old pics from when it was actually in good shape. Looking for a diagnosis...

I turn it down when i know that i'm playing a 25-28 hz tone. And plus that isn't part of the problem.

Sub is btl 12, 2.5 net cu ft at ~31 hz.

I bought a used IA20.1 and have been having problems with it so far. I have the gain matched to my head unit (alpine cda 105) and no bass boost. Subsonic filter set at 26 hz, low pass at 60 hz. I played decaf's hypnotize and about 15 seconds into the bassline my sub just cut off. Checked the fuse up front and it was good. Checked the all the wiring and it was good (sub is wired to 1 ohm). All connections are secure. I have 1 run of 1/0 from the front batt and i am grounded to the frame. I hooked my ipod up to the amp and it played pretty weakly, then for some reason it suddenly had like twice the output. I got another pair of rca's and hooked them up, but that didn't help. Now it ocassionly comes on, but has pretty low output. When i try to turn it up it just shuts off again. Voltage is good when it cuts off, around 14. Amp power light is on even after the sub cuts off. I am really perplexed at this and am wondering if i have to send it to db-r for repairs. Ask any question on info that i missed.

Nope, the space the person is willing to give up is the first determining factor. If he can only fit 8's where he wants to put his subs then that would narrow the options down a lot. If he was willing to give up his back seats and do a wall he would have many more options, such as two 15's or four 12's, etc. What i'm saying is you can't just decide you want an 18 but then you find out you only have room for a 12 in your available space. Yes i know, the OP said he wants to get 8's under the seat since that is probably the only option in that case. OP, i recommend as many sundown sa-8's you can fit in there. They have proved themselves to be great subs at a nice price.

My definition of mass production is anything that is produced to go on shelves of a store, such as alpine type r subwoofers. I believe that companies like DC and FI are not mass production companies because they take custom orders from individuals.

But OP, I had to do it, just file an eBay dispute, If the guy doesn't pay you back he gets bothered with literally 4 phone calls a day from a collection agency and then they start sending shit to his house..and then they have the right to call his local police Haha that sounds great to me. I've had a few ipods in the past, just too small for my library now, so i know how an ipod works. I tried to restore it because there was a bunch of junk on it. It won't power on and the computer won't recognize it anymore. It also doesn't respond to me trying to charge it.

I wanted to get an ipod i could keep in my car to hold all my music, and that could be played with my alpine h/u. Won a used ipod classic and the damn thing doesn't work. Doesn't stay powered on for more than a second and sometimes doesn't even take a charge. The person doesn't accept returns and said it was in perfect working order. Just pisses me off beyond belief that people do this shit, i mean, i spent my hard earned cash so i could enjoy music in the car and this is how i get treated? Fucking ridiculous. Just had to get some anger outta me. I also want to know if there's anything i can do to get my money back, and i'm not selling this to somebody else because i'm just not that type of person. Bought it off ebay through paypal.
