  1. If you have a clamp meter for DC amps, hook two batteries in series, hook the actuator up, and measure it while it's working. And make sure they're hooked up to whatever they're moving, because I BELIEVE they use more amps depending on how much physical resistance there is. Then you'll know how many amps the converter would need to put out. Or you can just keep 2 batts in series, disconnected from the rest of the car's electrical, and just charge them separately as needed.
  2. That'll leave me 1 channel free because 2 tweeters will be go on one channel. Is everyone still against putting 8"s on that empty channel? I don't think anyone's really "against" it per se, but there's a few reasons it's not really a good idea. The first, and probably most important reason, you can't control each channel's crossovers individually. You can only control them in pairs. This goes for the amp, your head unit, and pretty much any active crossover I can think of. So you would either need to go passive, or find some other way of crossing them. So let's say you DO find a way to cross them properly. Well now you'll have to go mono instead of stereo. On most songs you won't be able to tell the difference, but there are a few songs that do utilize the left/right channels, and sometimes the effect is actually pretty cool and ends up sounding really nice. I guess this part is up to you, but it's not really the "proper" way to set up a stereo system. If I were you, I'd just do (2-3) 6.5's and the tweets. Then if sometime down the line, you feel you need more midbass, you can get another amp and add the 8's (or other drivers) in the kicks, or redo your doors.
  3. Not really a good idea, unless you want mono audio. Curious though, why are you so set on that setup? Trying to make mickey mouses out of speakers?
  4. yeah, I wanted to run 2 6.5 and 8 on 1 channel. If you don't mind, what's the reason on you to advise against it? Well, to be honest I'm not 100% why. I know I've asked about this a couple times and seen it asked multiple times, and the answere is always no, don't run different drivers on the same channel. But I THINK it mainly because, being that they're different drivers with different specs, they're going to respond differently at any given frequency, making it basically sound like ass. Also, I just don't see the point. Why do you want to run an 8 and two 6.5's if they're going to be crossed at the same point? Just using all 6's or all 8's should accomplish the same thing. And I was wrong about the midbass thing... must have been confusing them with another driver.
  5. You say you're running active with 3 different drivers, but only 4 channels. How does that work? Are you planning on putting the 6.5's and 8's on the same channel? If so, I would advise against it, and instead just run two 8's or three to four 6.5's... Or you can get another 2 channel for a total of 6 channels.
  6. Man you just missed the Steam sale haha. If you're into single player games and haven't played these yet, I really enjoyed Just Cause 2, Borderlands, and Minecraft. All three I'd say have decent replay value. I know minecraft sounds kinda lame, but it's probably THE most addicting single player game I've ever played, and now that there's tons of mods and online servers, the possibilities are endless. There's also Portal. If you haven't played that, I'd say that's somewhat of a necessity. If you're looking for something you can play over and over for an extended period of time, there's always WoW, and pretty much any online FPS. I don't personally like them, but a lot of people seem to love TF2, LoL, and Killing Floor. Other popular games I haven't seen mentioned: Assassin's Creed, Skyrim, DiRT, Amnesia, Bioshock, Fallout. There's more, just depends on what you like.
  7. I think you may have misunderstood what Kranny said. You'd be throwing money away for custom inputs on that amp. The amp is fine if that's what you want to run, but there's no need for dual 0 inputs.
  8. I agree it would look better lowered than lifted, but it is his truck, why the hell do you care what he does to it? More importantly, why did you find it necessary to make a thread complaining about HIS decision? Some people...
  9. Then you can just wire each sub directly to a pair of terminals which will put you at 2 ohms. The amp is supposed to do 900 at 2 ohms, so you may or may not want to turn the gain down.
  10. Yes, they are internally "bridged." You can use one set of terminals or both, doesn't matter. I don't know anything about those subs though. What's the impedance and power handling?
  11. Take a class in electricity, or just a physics class, and then come back. You are wrong, period. No fuses? All that means is your amp isn't protected. Did you happen to read the part of the manual that said you need a 140A in line fuse before the amp? Using the rule of thumb, the most it would put out, then, is 1400, higher than your 1200. I would like to see proof of this one. Please do test more amps and be sure to take videos.
  12. Wow, no way I would ever buy from them, did you even read the page? I especially like this part, "This AMP is a class A/B which is another reason why we like it, you can play all the music: bass, mids and highs, not just the bass like class D amps."
  13. This is what the connectors look like. They aren't interchangeable. I've never used a DVR but I'm assuming the drive just slides in like in a laptop?
  14. Those are two differently priced subs, and I think you'll be happy with either. You can go with the more expensive one and get better quality, or just go with the cheaper one. Sure they do, in the form of kinetic energy (moving air), and of course heat.
  15. You're gonna either want to change that to a dual 4 ohm woofer, or get an amp that's stable at 1 ohm.
  16. I got your email about your acct being hacked dont worry we'll get that straightened out guy! lol Thanks got my account back. What kind of sick asshole would post something like that on my account? No but really, I've listened to it bout 5 times already.
  17. Sorry, but this is absolutely true. Of course it's just a rule of thumb, just an estimate. If you want to be accurate, you have to take voltage and efficiency into account. This rule of thumb is assuming a voltage of about 14 and efficiency of about 70%. Let's say those two numbers ARE accurate for a given amp with 2 30A fuses, then 600W WOULD be the absolute most it could give to the speakers. It's simple physics.
  18. If you're not using aero ports, you don't fill that box in, or the diameter box.
  19. As far as I know, you can use anything that's stretchy. Specifically, I've heard good things about a fabric called ponte, as well as spandex.
  20. Lol, if there's anyone that wants stricter gun laws, it's definitely not cops. Every cop I've ever known has been a huge gun fan, not only that, but they're smart enough to realize gun laws don't really affect criminals. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this guy hasn't so much as had a conversation with an officer. I'd also have to say he probably didn't think this through very well. Imagine if the police did go on strike, all the crime that would be committed. All that blood would be on his hands.
  21. They cannot be wired to 1 ohm. I wonder why the guy tried to talk you into these. Did you tell him you wanted to wire to 1 ohm?
