Dual Batteries?
RAM_Designs replied to MistahVee502's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
Depends on your listening habits and how well your little Camry alt can keep voltage from dropping too low. Because it will drop, it's just a matter of how much. -
The lvl3 15 is a solid sealed box sub.
-
I'd either do that or find a way to get at least 7ft^3 for all four.

There are some new VR4000D's for sale at ca.com. Brand new for $750. He said OBO, so he'd probably take $700 if you said you could pay him today... http://www.caraudio.com/forums/amplifier-classifieds/503736-fs-crossfire-vr4000d-bnib.html -
You definitely have plenty of room to work with.

There are tons of other variables, but it can be the case sometimes.

Normally a low-line sub is going to be better suited in sealed/IB boxes(Eclipse and Infinity come to mind). They'll generally have a pretty low fs, but a higher than normal qts value...good for sealed/IB, but makes them peaky in small ported boxes in a lot of cases.

I haven't personally messed with the Hifis, but I've heard from people that have that they prefer larger boxes.

Ummm...

SA 12 swap out from Treo TSX
RAM_Designs replied to kr15's topic in Sundown Audio - GREAT Amps/Subs! GREAT Customer Service!
Glad you're happy with the upgrade...I agree with Treo being over priced for what it is, but there's a lot of companies like that. -

For two do an 8ft^3 common chamber box tuned to 35hz. -
Find a used sundown 3000D or something along those lines. The 3000D will run .67 all day long so long as you have the electrical to back it up. I don't know how much shipping would be, but they're going for around $500-550 + shipping these days. Or you can do the AQ 3500 if they ship to Aussie land. Either one of those will give you plenty of power and can handle that .67 ohm load just fine.

The old VR's and CFA's were very nice. -
Port length
RAM_Designs replied to dula's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
Do you already have the box built and you're wanting to add external aeros? If not I'd just do a slot port. Aeros just get too long if you're wanting to tune low while using a good amount of port area. And you'd save money with a slot port as well. -
Idea any good? LOL
RAM_Designs replied to Winn's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
Well you can do that with a single sub if you want. -

Just that the port is going to be tricky with such a shallow box. You won't be able to just run a port vertically up one side or the other because you'll have either too skinny of a port, or too long of a port in the effort of making it not too skinny. You could do a port up high or down low than doesn't span the whole width, something like 30"x4" or something in that area. You could do the same on the sides but I think it'd look more out of place on a side. -

You definitely have enough space with those dimensions, but that 15" depth is going to make it kinda hard to not have the port directly behind a woofer.
