  1. So there I was... Looking at subwoofers to replace my Cadence.... Thinking (2) 10" L7's sealed off from trunk. Then I had a curveball thrown at me. I was suggested to get Fosgate T1 10's or AQ HDC310 Copper's sealed, or a single Fosgate or L7 15".... I can't decide... All of them are pretty comparable in all stats, except the AQ's stand out in power handling. This is in a Ford Taurus, mind you. If I went with the 15", it'd be in the trunk, 10's would be sealed. Just wondering if anyone's heard setups of any, and could help point me in the direction of which setup (Or top two setups) would be loudest. I know, I know... There's so many variables yadda yadda. Just lookin' for some opinions.
  2. Use your sub till your window springs a leak, then reseal it. Or downsize. The Taurii do flex pretty bad. I've got an 02 that flexes with a simple 15". I guess that's what you get for having a cheap car. Do the 96's have the fold-down back seat, too?
  3. Added a space (Just figured before graffiti doesn't usually have a space). It's "Team DaftBeats" Daft: Insane/crazy And I hope it was the 2nd one you like. The first was just to show my expression when lacking sleep at 3am.
  4. You, my friend, have a sick, twisted mind. Just sayin'. Edit: Is the guy doing your vinyl doing it in 1-color or multi-color? (Assuming it's a single-color vinyl, that's what I did first. If it can be multi-colored, sweet.) I couldn't think of any good names o.o I suck at being creative. What are the dimensions of the whole window? This is just something random I whipped up. Nothing special, but at 3am, my mind is like fuuuuu.... If I knew what I was doing, it'd be easier. I have decent photoshop skills... Just not good ideas.
  5. ^^^ What he said. Don't get Power Craptastik. If you want (2) subs, the Level 3's are good, or if you want just 1, the DC XL is pretty tight, too. Along with an AQ 1200D.
  6. ^^ This guy knows what's up. Listen to him and you're in good hands.
  7. lol rob actually gained a DB by using the gorilla tape lol. Wait... You're saying that the Frankenwoofer is actually LOUDER than a normal Level 5???? LOL. I think DC should make a special edition woofer for him
  8. Thanks dwright. I think I'm going to go with the 10's when the time is right. I remember seeing Thorshammer's 2 level 5's, and I loved the idea of looking back, and seeing two 10's pounding. Of course, that's provided that they're not Frankenwoofers I'm looking back at
  9. So coming this spring, I'm going to be doing some upgrades to my car. I know for sure I want to run DC subs on somewhere in the 3k+rms area. I thought I was set on (2) DC XL 10's sealed off from the trunk, but then thought of a 15" Level 5... Both would be on an AQ 3500D.1. The 15" would not be sealed. I'm not sure of the exact price on the level 5, but I can assume it's about the same price as two XL 10's? Right now, I have an enclosure for a 15". I think it's about 3.5cu ft tuned to 39hz. Would it be a smarter idea to go with (2) XL 10's over the (1) level 5?
  10. OMG sexy vulcan, what size battery is that, looks like a D3100 from XS Not to be Mr. Obvious or anything... But the battery says D3400.
  11. Are you charging your ipod as it's hooked up or something? I notice when I plug in my cell phone charger, and am charging my ipod off of that, I sometimes get engine noise in my speakers.
  12. Quality wise, both are going to be outstanding. Polk Audio definitely knows what they're doing. The Polk will put out more power per channel 90wx4 vs JL 75wx4), but I believe the JL amp you listed is stable down to 1.5 ohms, as opposed to the Polk that I believe is stable down to 2 ohms.
  13. So 2 weekends ago back home in Langdon, North Dakota (Don't know where that is? That's okay. 99.9% of the world has never heard of ND) we had a nasty wind storm. To put it into perspective, you could not see across the street. Basically what the issue is, some dick ran into my car during the storm, and left. Left a huge dent in the driver's side front fender, right by the door. Great. Putting on lambo doors and popping out a dent the redneck way (Hammer and a towel ftw!) in a matter of a week. Well, I didn't think it'd get done, but it did. The dent is out, and looks terrible, but going down the highway (Basically anything past 50mph) I have a NASTY whistle. It appears that the fender bent in at the top somehow while hammering it (Or rolling the inside of the fender for the door shocks) allowing air into the gap, and creating a whistle. I tried bending it out a bit with my hands, but that stuff is STIFF. What would be the best way of bending it back out?
  14. Before anyone freaks out and calls me dumb for my decisions (As I know a few will) I do not care if what I'm doing to my 02 Taurus is dumb or whatever. I do the things I do because it's unique. Like my butterfly doors. Is butterfly doors on a Taurus stupid? Yes. But have you ever seen butterfly doors on a Taurus before? That's why I did it. So my next project (On top of upgrading my 15" cadence to (2) DC XL 10's) is to upgrade the engine. I've got about 110k on the stock engine, so I'm looking at replacing this one. The thing is... I don't want an ordinary engine. I want a big, mean, powerful engine. One that's capable of giving a stock Camaro a run for it's money. But does Ford even make any high-performance engines for a Taurus? Where would I look to find a high-performance engine? Price is not a big deal.
  15. My old man drives an 06 Impala with the mirror with onstar. Yeah, it's a big, heavy mother... But that thing shakes more with the stock stereo than my 02 Taurus with a 15" Cadence. Last time I checked, a Taurus is super cheaply made.
  16. This whole site nut hugs XS...as you state XS is the best per your opinion. Insecure contradictory guy is insecurely contradicting, LOL Win.
  17. If you're going to wire the two level 2's to 1 ohm, be careful with that amp. It's putting out double the RMS of the them... If you don't know what you're doing, that's an easy way to fry them.
  18. IMO, if you have the money for two DC's, I'd go for it. The DC's rms specs show they're almost double the RE's rms. Not to mention the level 2's sensitivity is a little higher (But not by much). The level 2's show they're 300rms, but they could probably take 400 rms of -clean- power. Would I get them with that amp? No. on that amp, you won't hear much of a difference. If you get a monoblock that's putting out 800rms or so @ 1 ohm (For the 2 level 2's) or one that's 700-800rms @ 2ohm (For the 1 level 3), then yes, it'd be well worth it. DC's are surprisingly inexpensive, and amazing quality. You can't go wrong with them.
  19. Spacers between screw head and box. Edit: and longer screws to account for spacers. Double Edit: Or make the hole bigger?
  20. I was still thinking quite the same. The XL is a beast. Who do I contact for pricings on the DC's?
  21. Okay, guys. I suck... I've been looking... More.... And was wondering about (2) HDC310-A Aluminum Coil Subwoofer's... What do you think? Still an XL?
  22. Yeah, I seen Thor's vids. Seeing him rock 150+ on two 10's is the only reason I'm going with a 10" woofer. Am I set on a 10 or 10's? No. I just don't have a whole lot of room to play with in my car. (Ford Taurus FTW!) I don't plan on doing burps for any comps, but being able to do them in demos for (hopefully eventually) the midwests's loudest Taurus, would be nice.
