  1. Just do a single port 8" wide and avoid the confusion. if you do two ports, that's gonna take up more airspace in the box.
  2. If you sell the 12's to get an identical 18, you'll have more cone area anyways.
  3. The tuning is fine. especially for the hdc's. they will still drop bottom, even with a higher tuning.

  5. uhm.. no. steve isn't using his doors as the sub source. it's the mid bass to help fill in the gaps that the 18's don't cover.

It probably takes a LOT of testing. finding peak frequencies for each driver, graphing frequency responses, etc. there's probably a LOT of trial and error involved as well. On top of all that, you'd have to know what all of the data means, and be able to translate it into the design. overall, it seems like it takes a lot of time, effort, and likely money to get desirable results. Has to be the fucking stupidest response ive seen in my life. Build to boxes at what you want tgem tuned at, put them in the car, hook it up and slap away. Thats all that required. Really? Have you done it before?

  9. like the others said, 2 common walls would be better in this situation. i can almost guarantee you don't have 3 quarters of a cubic foot worth of bracing displacement in that box. and even if you do, you don't need nearly that much. i'd say a quarter of a cubic foot at the very maximum. your sub displacement is off as well. the HDC3's displace around .2-.25 each. You accounted for two *extra* baffles in the calculator, but I only see one extra in your drawing. you should really only need one extra baffle anyways, so enter 1 for the # of extra baffles. if you're using the HDC3's they're probably going to want a little more airspace. so try to get 12.5-13 cubes net.
  10. i'm not a fan of upward firing subs in a trunk, but try this. do a couple vertical dowels a few inches behind the sub cutout. a 45 along the bottom in the back, and a 45 in the rear corner opposite of the port opening.

If you work at best buy and take advantage of the kicker accommodation, it's a great investment. you have to wait a year before you can sell the gear, and you can only buy one complete system per year and you have to wait a year before you can sell it. but the prices you get are DAMN good. like 330 plus ship on the latext 2500 watt. even the older models go for about double that. I got my 4 CVX 12's for like 440 something after shipping. Of course, I didn't know much about car audio at this point (I thought i could fit 4 12's in my trunk lol) but hell even a year later, i could still probably sell them for about 150-175 each. They were like 105 each plus shipping for me. sold a couple to my friend for 125 each.

  17. I'm almost certain you have too much volume, or too much port area.
  18. I usually just guesstimate, .05-.1 in bracing. if you're making 45's then err on the side of .1+, if you're not, about .03-.05 should be close to accurate. as long as you're close it's not gonna make a huge difference unless you're chasing tenths on the meter (non audible differences)

  22. if you're going for loud you could do a 6th order. that is provided you have room, though. i know mustangs don't have very big trunks
