1. It is, a similar hacked up dodge caravan would be around $60k, this is $40k. Now I worked on a few of those hacked up caravans over my time as an installer, and they are... well... hacked up. also the vehicle has been crash tested, in the taxi version which is the same vehicle for taxi fleets, the only difference is the colors, and a bit more plush for the consumer version. The deck which the wheel chair sits on has 2 tie down areas which have exceeded the 10k lb strength test. The are being built at the AM General plant, and are using a modified Hummer H2 frame/chassis I wish one of our domestic car manufacturers would of done this before an investment group came along and did it. Actually I wish I would of thought of it...
2. kynto, sorry to hear about your dad, I am sure he is proud of you though.
3. I think this is awesome that a manufacturer recognized the needs of those with disabilities. VPG Autos, designed the MV-1, the first true mobility vehicle designed from the ground up I have been working with them closely on a project, and will get to operate one on Friday (25th) I posted this only because I am a car and audio nut, I don't sell cars... I make them better Anyways, I did the official press release earlier today click here If you have a family member or friend close by to us and they want to try it out, let me know and I will try to arrange it
4. Well we twisted the boss's arm, we broke down and got a Virtual GT Driving Simulator, about $60k for it with all the mods we just added. Anyways, long story short.. read the official press release Race Simulator to be Displayed at The Cleveland Auto Show If you think that you have the driving skills to win on a race course, you'll soon be able to prove it at the upcoming Cleveland Auto Show. The Collection Auto Group will have two racing simulators at its booth, representing the cutting edge of racing simulation technology. If you're the best, you'll win a trip down to the Porsche Driving School in Alabama to further hone your skills behind the wheel. "One of the simulators will be based on the Sony Playstation," said Bernie Moreno, president of the Collection Auto Group. "That one will be a Mercedes-Benz-themed race simulator that will be free of charge and available to everyone under the age of 21. "The other simulator is called a VirtualGT Machine. It's one of the most unbelievable simulators available today. It's as close to driving a race car as you can get without being on the track yourself." The VirtualGT will be available to those over 21, and it will cost $20 to drive, said Moreno. The proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross. Each day, there will be a contest to see who has the fastest time on the VirtualGT, with the top scores being posted on the digital billboard at Airport Acura and Airport Infiniti. The billboard can easily be seen from Interstate 480. "You'll not only have the best time of the day, but everyone will be able to see it as they drive by on Interstate 480," said Moreno. "We will also have a live video stream from the Auto Show on our website. So if you know that you'll be at the show racing, your buddies at home or work will be able to log on and see how well you did on the racing simulator. You'll also be able to paste the video onto your Facebook account." The person with the best time of each day will win a pair of Cavaliers tickets courtesy of the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers' Association. "At the end of the show, the person with the overall best time will win a trip down to the Porsche Driving School in Alabama," Moreno added. Located at Barber Motorsports Park near Birmingham, Alabama, the Porsche Driving School is the experience of a lifetime. Definitely not for the faint of heart, the Porsche Driving School operates year round and offers numerous courses for beginner, intermediate and advanced drivers. It also offers special programs that are tailored to specific groups of drivers. In the U.S., Porsche operates one of the country's top sport driving schools. Guest drivers of all skill levels receive personal instruction in Porsche-renowned sports cars from 28 top professional drivers. Many are highly accomplished drivers in their sport and have historic wins in some of the world's most renowned races. Barber Motorsports Park is considered one of the finest racetracks in North America. "After the show, we're planning to move the VirtualGT machine into our Porsche dealership," said Moreno. "Anyone who comes in to test drive a Porsche will be able to take a drive on the simulator. Then, each quarter, the person with the fastest time will also win a chance to go to Porsche Driving school." Visit the Collection Auto Group Website for more information and news
5. So I would need to buy just a VPA-B211A and a TME-M770? Will the TME-M770 mount in the dash like a traditional double din? it would need a little modification to fit the dash
6. same as the rest... vhub with a touchscreen where the headunit goes...
7. there's other options such as the Alpine Vhub or the KOS from Kenwood, though it won't be as cheap, it will solve the depth option for sure. Streaming audio is actually works quite well do to the fact that it doesn't skip
8. Well I am glad someone hoisted the BS flag My favorite is when being tested, when calling the company that "manufactured" it, makes excuses, not enough rpm's... voltage regulator needs adjusting.... the pulley is the wrong size... Sounding familiar yet?
9. at work waiting on a customer... so time to kill until he gets here did you look at the alpine 407, the new interface is pretty bad ass.
10. worthless without the brain, but somewhere... someone had some idiot thief steal the screen and they are left holding the brain and wires... they are great units when everything is there... i used to relocate the screen only on those and leave the slot for the DVD player... never let me down
11. I will look around but that was before the digital camera age for me...
12. wayyyy back in the day, 95 or so... we would use a small amp hidden away with the outputs running the inputs of the other amps... especially later when the Phoenix Gold ZPA amps came out. ...but now since you have line drivers I would suggest what we used to do... again back in the day... we would get a project box from radio shack or use plexi and make our own... drill openings on 1 side for a left and right female RCA wall mount, and then on the opposite side do the same for as many amps you are going to run. just solder from the input RCA's to the output RCA's using 18 gauge wire (which is still thicher than 99% of the RCA's out there) Sometimes we would run into problems where one input would have to run 8-10 amps, we would just use a small barrier strip to make it easy. You can have some serious fun with it also when building it, like adding LED lighting, especially today with the colored LED lighting that can do a strobe effect And you can obviously 1 up everyone in the lanes, neighborhood, and possibly make a few bucks doing it for your buddies
13. here is the youtube video of it with the sound or the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6c2TUhNRLQ
14. Here they are... though the Brabus one is really 700 horse's (guy can't read before he put the plate on) Damn I gotta go, forgot that I have to pick up the boys from football practice here's the link http://www.facebook.com/NorthOlmstedPerformance
15. It is a ballsy move to leave the tech info to the dealers, that can make a break a line also... I know from looking at your site that a few of the dealers that I know and some of the local ones in my area, couldn't provide technical advise on how to count fingers on one hand. As the other comment about moving business ahead, it might be a little touchy to those that supported you/the company when you just started off. I had to do it when I opened my own company and then when I went to work for my current employer... it was some tough decisions, and I did upset a few people but business is business.
16. Also the automated ordering is awesome for dealers, I use it for Viper, and have yet to have any issues, where I have had issues recently with someone taking the order over the phone.
17. Understandable... maybe re-reading this I was just giving more insight on how customers are... the funny thing is that people's mentality have changed, and get upset if they can't reach you on Sunday at 9PM now a days. in defense of the person answering the phone not knowing anything; Shannon, Beth, Natalie, Amy, or Holly have no clue to what I do, but they page me, or offer voicemail, cell phone, or hand written message if I do not responds within 30 seconds of them being placed on hold. It has to be a pleasurable experience
18. I don't want to anger you with this post, and thought best not to post, walked away from it but came back 3x to it. My comment is not bashing you or your company in anyway, so do not take it that way... take it as constructive criticism. From my experience in the world of 12v, which is pretty long as I hate to do anything more than a year... hence the 10 ex wives and 50 kids, but I have done this for almost 15 years professionally and a few more years just messing around... When i see companies not taking phone calls, it leads me to imagine financial troubles, hence Phoenix Gold, Audiobahn, Eclipse, PPI, Orion... Now this might not be the case with your situation, and I hope not... as I want everyone to see their dream and exceed at it. or.. It is an internet based company and that is the way it is, no phone contact info listed on the site, which clearly states this is an internet based company. Now you having dealers, does the same apply to them? I seen this when Elemental Designs started out, and everyone jumped on the band wagon for them (shops included), ending with a shop or client holding an empty wallet and a boat anchor. Today's economy you can find someone (multiple) working minimal wage with no benefits (part-time like walmart) to answer phones. These are you customers, the bread and butter of your operation, I just don't understand how you can ask your clients or perspective clients not to call, and wonder if you think/know that it might be counter productive to your growth? or maybe you are at your limits in manufacturing now... which would be better to say then don't call as not be a dis service to your clients. I guess I am just baffled, as I do everything possible to get that phone call, no matter what, text, facebook, fwd calls, voicemail, email, giving my clients my cell and let them know if they have a problem to call 24/7, arranging transportation, pick-up and delivery service, etc... there is just a lot of options out there for a client/perspective customer, and the goal is to land that job/sale. Further I am sure you are flirting with a disaster due to the internet or forums... I have read numerous times bad experiences (not you or your company) from keyboard comando's that they had horrible experiences since no one answered on the first ring... then go spouting off on the internet... Like I said, just wondering, constructive criticism, etc... not pooping all over you, as i said... i want everyone to succeed in their business!
