  1. I've seen a post from nick that the SA metered about 1-.5 db's louder, which probably wouldn't be an audible difference. I like low bass and my obsidians get down! Either sub will sound just fine on rated power, I think if I were going with 12's I'd get the obsidians because of their price difference and that's the only reason, I really love both series of subs
  2. I'll leave all the technical stuff for nick or Jacob to answer. But obsidian first of all doesn't make a 10, the SA series from what I've seen can take a little bit more power and a get a little bit louder. The obsidians sound like they get a little bit lower. I say this because I have obsidians and SA series subs, I don't have Skars tho to tell you the difference but I love their magnet lol, I don't like the cone much and I've heard sketchy things about the owner, but I think he has been doing good with the company.
  3. Even if it did do 2k at 1ohm (which I highly doubt) your sub doesn't allow you to run at 1ohm anyway
  4. No because power acoustik is overrated a bit, and the amp is supposed to make 2k at 1ohm rms I'm pretty sure, and a dvc 1ohm sub wires to 2ohms or .5ohm. I could be wrong on the Amps output but I'm pretty sure Oh and most monoblock's now and days have various speaker outputs, the terminals are connected internally and the companies just do that for ease of wiring, it doesn't affect the ohm load
  5. For some reason I don't think this guy is looking for a whatever cheap amp lol
  6. 2-2.5 cubic feet can house like 4 SA-8's ported haha, Thats bad ass
  7. That's fine but asking questions is only good if you listen to the answer haha, don't take that personal, i just say that cause kids come in here all the time asking questions and getting advice but not taking any of it and still doing their first idea, which was usually a horrible one haha
  8. 2 12's = more cone area + more motor force which is usually going to get louder if in the correct box as a single 15 on the same power. But I'd figure out what kind of airspace your going to have first! If airspace isn't a factor you could do 2 15's even. But you need to know what kind of room you are going to have first, then you can know what size of subs to be looking for
  9. 2 12's ported are going to require around 4ft^3 of airspace btw... Idk what your exact plans are as to where and how the box will go, but if you won't have that much space I'd suggest 10's or 8's depending on your airspace. The box I the important thing, allowing the sub to do what it needs to do
  10. First of all if you have 2 dvc 2ohm subs you cannot be running at 4ohms, so you're not at 4ohms I don't think. Second of all 2 12 sex subs is the better choice by a lot! That isn't even a question, but there are alot of subs you could look into, read a few threads in here and I'm sure you'll see a ton of names, I personally like obsidian audio subs, especially for small 2k set ups that you don't want to spend thousands of dollars on. But whatever subs you get make sure you get dvc4's instead of dvc2's just so you can utilize your amps power at 1ohm. Unless you do a single sub set up, then you'll want a d2 sub.
  11. Port up subs up in a single cab? I've never seen behind the seat in a ram single cab but if there is that much room that is bad ass!
  12. If your gunna do the kickers I'd definately go with the l7, but not 12" for your airspace, probably 10" instead. The cvt will make bass, but not at an enjoyable frequency, at least from the few set ups with cvt's that I have seen. They are shallow subs so they can't escort very much. And the reason people talk bad about kicker is not just because everyone else does. It has a lot to do with the quality of subs, bad sound quality, expensive. But I think more than anything it's all the annoying ass noobies that run kicker and think they are the loudest people on earth. Lol
  13. I put two SA-10's in my brothers single cab f-350 and it was a bitch to get the box to fit perfect but we did it and they get real low. We have them in 2.25ft^3 @33hz we havnt metered it yet but I've been impressed. It's also The samewattage that you speak of
  14. I would take the havoc for sure and then later on buy another.
  15. Who ever said anything about audiopipe in this thread? I think that's the first time the name has even been said? Op say no to kicker subs
  16. Maybe that's the magic number then cause I can't say that I have ever heard an l7 sound "great" Op I wouldn't waste my money on an l7 in any occasion, actually even if you had the airspace for a 12"l7 I would still run a SA-10 over it in a heartbeat... Just sayin. And it's not only sundown, I'd even run an audioque 10, a dd 10, I'd run almost any respectable company's 10 in place of it
  17. Well obviously any noob can go on kickers website and get their "requirements" because if kicker said it it must be true! I'm not saying that their website doesnt say that you can't put their sub in 1.7ft, but from my experience I wouldn't recommend 1.7 or even 2ft for a 12"l7. I'm not saying it can't be done, all I said is that I don't think that is ideal airspace for a 12"l7. That airspace would accommodate a 10" subwoofer much better, or even 3 8's
  18. I don't think I agree with this, first off I don't think 2 cubes is ideal airspace for a 12"l7, second of all a 2ft^3 box net usually turns out to be 2.5ft^3 or more gross (which also has to fit into the given airspace)
  19. I love obsidian as much or more than most people on this forum, I'm running obsidian right now and I will be running it in my next setup in December! My only doubt is the airspace, if you can get 2ft^3 after displacements and port, I say OA-12 all the way, if thats what you do then shoot me a PM and I can tell you more about them. But if you can't give the sub the proper airspace you are going to be louder with a 10, and if obsidian made a 10 that is what I'd say you should get but they don't so I say SA, or there are a few other respectable original companies around with a nice 10 also
  20. If you can only get away with two cubic feet I wouldn't Do a twelve, I would do an SA-10 in a ported box. 12's usually need around 2ft^3 and for a single sub set up I might even give it a tiny bit more. And you might have 2 cubes gross but after displacements you will lack airspace on your net
  21. There is a guy on caco selling bc2000's for $250 shipped. He has 2 I'd grab one if I didn't already have one. Or db-r sells really nice refurb sundown amps
  22. There are a lot of options, but even with all the options I'd suggests sundowns or obsidians
  23. I like the 2 15 idea. Or 3-4 12's if you can get them below the windowline
