  1. My absolute bare minimum is cost of materials + $60, that's for as simple as they come. For that box, I'd say anywhere from $120 to $150 depending on how hot his niece is.
  2. Obsidian's have a pretty sweet looking high roll surround.
  3. Judging by the pics he spends the first 10-12 minutes moving the hair out of his eyes.
  4. I personally hate prefab boxes. I run downfiring in my truck because it was the best sounding in my particular case. I've tried forward firing, upfiring, etc and down just worked the best for me. If you're going to run 2 of them look into something like an AQ1200D to power them.
  5. I'd look into a better amp if I was you. I'm not a fan of Kenwood amps... in fact I hate the one I have on my mids/highs. How many subs are you wanting to run? 1? 2? 47?
  6. If it's already starting to round make sure you use a 6 point socket. It will atleast help some on not rounding it on off.
  7. SOAK that sensor in PB blaster, I mean HEAVY coat. Let it sit a few minutes then get a 6 point deep socket and put on it and it should come right off. Sending units/sensors are always a bitch to get out.
  8. Bah, Ray your tampon string is peeking out. 2 21's or you sit down to pee OP.
  9. 4 common walls would be a box with a side missing. Well, if your port has to bend and go along the back wall, then it would actually be using 4 common walls, but I see the Torres calculator doesn't see it like that. I just use WinISD to get the port length I need and do all of the numbers myself. I find it to be less of a headache, as odd as that sounds. Technically Torres would see it as the side BECOMING the back wall as it L's. It uses another wall of the box yes, but it's also technically just using 3 common walls as it never uses all 4 at any 1 particular time. It's like looking at the front of the box it uses 3 common walls, then if you took the side off and look at where the L starts it's still just using 3 commong walls.
  10. and when do people use the L in a port? to change the tuning of their box if it isn't deep enough? On most ported boxes to get correct port length with enough port area it can require L'ing the port. Basically just adding length to get desired tuning.
  11. If it's shaped like a slot, it's a slot regardless of if it L's or not. Some people just call them L port boxes.
  12. Don't forget dual lock nuts with JB weld overtop of them. Come on guys, we can't really give this guy a hard time. I'm sure several of us where there at one time, some good advice and a few weeks on this forum will get him in the right direction. Honest answer: Any 1"+ coarse thread screws will work well. I used 1 5/8" coarse thread drywall screws on my boxes. Honestly to hold the sub in though I prefer t-nuts. They allow you to remove/reinstall the sub as many times as needed without having to worry with holes stripping out, screws breaking, etc.
  13. For that beast you may need some t-nuts. Actually, that's just what I'd use in almost any enclosure anyway. Lol
  14. Nope. It's .035 for sub displacement.
  15. The L7 8" is .035 per sub. They seem to like 38-39hz from what I've seen. I have tuned them as low as 36hz per the owners request and they still sounded alright.
  16. Congratulations on getting your food spit in. LOL JK I've turned mine up in the drive through when someone had asked me to, but only if there was no one else in the drive through and barely any inside (Pretty common in my small town).
  17. Mine got surprisingly good mileage on the 33's. Especially on the highway due to the lowered RPM to run highway speed. I did everything from a single 12, to 4 15's, to 2 18's in my XJ. EVERYTHING got loud. My favorite vehicle to build and daily that I've owned. i meant the mileage on the vehicle. i dont know how long its gonna last me. i got a lot of options with the motor i got. i can go anywhere from two 8's to two 18's on 1200 watts rms a piece I sold mine with 240k on it and the guy is still driving it. A majority of it's life it had the 33's on it, 10 SVR batteries, and God only knows how much weight of subs/amps/MDF. They are durable if you take care of them.
  18. Why? Why do I love my SA? Because for the money it sounds good, gets damn loud, and is handling this AQ2200D like a champ! I want to get my hands on some Obsidians just to try them out. Haven't heard them in person yet, but with Nick and Jacob doing the work on them they can't be bad.

  20. I love my SA-15. I've been dying to get my hands on some Obsidians though.
  21. DAMNIT, it's identical to my old Cherokee I miss so bad . Throw a 4.5" RE suspension lift and some 33x10.50 BFG MT's on some black Rockcrawler series 51's, put some TJ flares on it, and put some 5% tint on it and it'd be it's twin. You'll love the XJ, they get crazy loud with ANYTHING.
  22. The Sig's will take ALOT more than 3k. Behind the Neo-Sig they were the highest of the Shockers. The Super Extreme (Below the sig) was rated at/would take 4,000 RMS.
  23. Congrats on the worst day of your life. No more naive virgins who fall for the "Just the head" trick.
