Depends on how well the panel is prepped. If its ready for paint then no backing needed. If it looks ugly and has dimples and un-even spots then get it with close cell foam backing. It will cover most of that but has a padded look. Like steve used a padded vinyl on his box but hid doors are no foam backing. That will show you the look difference.

Time for a fresh look ric. Not saying you look like shit, just that now is the time to make the changes you want. Ive been there, take it from me. It will pay 10 fold. Make the shape in mdf first. Then double stick or hot glue the pieces together and use a flush trim on a router to copy that to the plexi
