  1. Original Torre's from John253a: What the box actually came out as being:
  2. Not a problem at all and yea that is correct man. I am trying to dig up a pic of the torres on this box and it just doesn't want to show up. If nothing else maybe I can get another torres done on it and upload that. Ill report back in a few for sure

  4. Glad I could help out man. Anytime you need some help on somethin just shoot me a text and we will get it done. The big 3 will not be a problem at all. just have to get use to soldering and after that your good. I think once that voltage stays 13.8v+ you will see near a steady 2k rms. I'm going to upload the pics of the box design below. Got to get them on photobucket and ill upload them shortly. -James
  5. Yea man congrats on the 141.8 for your first TL. Lookin forward to filming the progress along the way. The beefed up electrical should def help
  6. Hey whats up man. I have been helped many times on boxes and figured I would try to help out on this one. What are your max dimensions? LxWxH Are you looking to have the sub facing up or towards the back? Port to the back? What size box as far cubic feet are you looking for? 2.5-3.5ft^3? I dont have any experience with this sub but with 2" of excursion either way I would think it might need to be a tab bit on the larger side. -James
  7. Also if the price is right I may consider a motor/basket and then just send it to PSi for a recone. I go this route I would need a 3" voice coil minimal
  8. Hey whats up everyone? I am looking for a single 18" woofer that will take 2.5k rms daily. The amp is a Soundstream rub2500.1D. Voltage never drops below 13.8v. My budget is $350 and I'm looking to stay a little under that. I am just seeing what may be up for sale. Bank account is in the process of being linked to my PayPal so I will be able to pay through PayPal. Been looking at PSi, AQ, and Fi but anything you have to offer just let me know. Even if you have something a little above my budget post up and I may try and save up to increase my budget a tad bit. Thanks, -James
  9. Also got a set of 17ft Q Power RCA's. $12 shipped if your interested. Never been used. I got them in an amp kit and just never needed them. Just shoot me a PM if you are interested in anything -James
  10. I got 25ft of Q Power CCA 4ga and I will list lengths below. Also got a Memphis AFS fuse holder with 2 60A fuses. Also got a Q Power ANL fuse holder with an 100A ANL fuse. Looking $20 for the wire or $0.80 a foot. $12 for the ANL fuse holder and $15 for the Memphis AFS fuse holder. All prices include shipping. PM me if interested. I was just about to post it Wire lengths: (1) Red 26" with termianl (1) Red 85" with soldered terminal (1) Red 157" (1) Black 33" Here is a link to my F/S thread http://www.stevemead...olders-anl-afs/
  11. I'm really confused on the cut sheet of this box man. Me and Zac (SMZ2) just built that box you designed for the Fi/Psi 18 and that box came together perfect. Cut sheet was easy to make follow from the torres info and sketch you made. Given that box was .75" sides and 1.5" baffle. Anyway I think the 1.5" sides are really throwing me off and that's why I'm struggling with the cut sheet for this box. I will for sure stick to the 39hz tuning without the removable port but is there anyway to lower the tuning to 30hz (28-30) with the removable port in? Also with the port walls on the inside I would only make them .75" thick and then let the removable port double the wall thickness to 1.5" right?
  12. Also two quick questions. If I kept the removable port out and kept the box tuned to 39.18hz would it hit lows around 20-26hz? I know thats a far stretch from its tuning but I do like the lows also. Obsidian says the woofers should be tuned 28-32hz but I'm guessing thats for daily and not SPL? I play a lot of music with 26-34hz drops in it.
  13. The Woofer Displacement of the Obsidian 15 is also .19ft^3 and total woofer displacement would be .74ft^3. Would this effect the tuning of the box very much? Sub Displacement in the box originally was .64ft^3 and it is .74ft^3 according to Obsidian's web site
  14. I leave all the seams exposed like a normal box I can get the cut sheet made easy but with the box where all the seams are overlapped I am really having trouble with the cut sheet. all the different lengths for each side is confusing. Also trying not to make the box smaller on the inside than it is suppose to be. Trying to make sure I can keep all the cubic feet I can. Thanks for any help on this cut sheet in advance
  15. the cut sheet on the original drawing would be different from the cut sheet on the box that has all the seems covered wouldnt it?
  16. Hey man is there an exact cut sheet for the box with the removable port? I am trying to sketch everything up now so I can be building by the middle to end of this week. I just want to be specific on this box cause it will be system for a while and the system I carry to SBN. I will sure mention you when people asked who designed this box. All the help is really appreciated. Also will be buying supplies by this Tuesday -James
  17. Great idea man. I will build the box over about 2 weeks so I can take my time. I never thought of building one box then building the next box to slide over it. Hopefully have th emoney to start building this coming week. If you can think of any aero port design before I start build please let me know. Its something different and something I've never had. I really like this box and still planning in my head how i'll cut everything out for it especially the port for this box. Thanks for all the draw ups though. Its really helping me get everything planned in my head. Here is a Ram Designs box I saw on youtube and thought I would get your opinion. Still will probably go with the slot port box over the ram designs box though. Thanks, -James **edit**
  18. Wow man thanks for the draw up and the torre's specs. So I'm looking at about 39hz for SPL comps and 32hz daily? I am really liking the port at the bottom though. The removable port really doesn't look like hardly any extra work at all. Also would I need to glass the inside since it is 1.5" thick? How would this perform on low notes do you think? *edit* Baffle thickness is 1.5" instead of. 75 in torre's right?
  19. What would the removable slot port be looking like in torre's? I really don't have any idea on removable slot ports since I have never had any experience with them. A sketch of the removable slot port may help me build a box like this though. What would you tune it to for SPL? And what are your ideas for daily tuning? I may keep the SPL tuning for the daily also if its not too low. I listen to mainly rap and dubstep. Lots of lows with highs every now and then. It would have been nice to aero's but if a slot port will perform better than a limted aero port box then ill go with slot port. All the help is appreciated. I couldn't accomplish all the designing by myself -James
  20. Ok you've got me on 7 6" aeros. If I stepped up to 8" what are we talkin? I'm trying to go with a box that is going to come out clean looking when I'm done building it. Also 4 OA 15's on 2.5k looks like my decision for the build. Would love to run 5K on them but don't think they could handle it. Any Obsidian Audio reps here that could tell me for sure? So for sure ill need 1.5" on the sides and bottom even with bracing and glassing? I don't want cheap out on anything but I am just making sure. Also once the box is deisgned ill start picking up supplies for the build and I should be able to start ordering subs within a week-week and a half -James
  21. For this upcoming build what do y'all think of these options and which one would work best for an SPL application? I would have to pre-order the 18's so they would take a little longer but I looks like I'll be getting Obsidian equipment since I can run them at 1 ohm with either a 2 or 4 sub set up. I should have the funds to start ordering subs shortly also. Once I get this box designed and start ordering subs I will start a build log. Choices for the build: (keep in mind I am running a Soundstream rub2500.1D and would like to run 2 strapped or maybe move up to a 3500w amp) (2) D4 Obsidian 15" (4) D2 Obsidian 15" (2) D4 Obsidian 18" Thanks for any input y'all -James
  22. Ok I got the baffle and wood thickness on 1.5" and I got 4 6" aero's @ 10" long. With 4 open its 34.74hz then 3 open its 30.89hz, and 2 open its 26.13hz. The box comes out to 13.77ft^3 for net volume. Would the box really flex that much with just one .75" on the sides and bottom and 1.5" on the surface? I am planning to glass the inside and brace it with threaded steel rods instead of wooden dowels. I really appreciate the help man. What is you opinion on running 4 Obsidian Audio 18's with these same max dimensions? The 18's are only $189 but are only 600rms so I would have to run 4 of these on 2500w rms? or would 2 handle 2500w without frying a coil? 4 15" obsidians are also in the realm of things only being $158 each. I originally was looking at 2 of these 18's but didnt think they could handle the power so I ruled them out but what do you think about 2500w on 2 of these? Here is how I tweaked the box for 4 15's:
  23. I appreciate the fast reply and the opinions on the box. Opinions always help out when it comes to a box because someone else may have a better design than myself. I got a few questions though. For the wood its 1.5" thickness? Wouldn't I be using .75" MDF and then do a double baffle on top? Also what do you use to plug your ports? I would like to get something that is air tight if I am going to have anything over 3 ports on the box. It would be nice to have that amount of customization in the tuning part of it but 3-4 ports might be what I am trying to go for instead of 5+. I haven't had too much experience with aero ports. Is this box too big for 4 15's? I dont want to make the subs feel like they are playing in free air -James
  24. Hey whats up everyone? I am looking at upgrading my 2 12" Q Power Deluxe's to 4 15 Deluxe's. I got 2 12" Q Power Deluxe series subs and I am pushing 2500rms to them, While they are surprisingly taking the power like champs I am looking to upgrade to 4 15" Q Power Deluxe's. Only problem is the Deluxe's only come in D4 subs. I wouldn't be able to run 4 D4's at 1 ohm. I need 4 D2's. So as much as I want to stay with Q Power look like I am going to have change brands so I can get 4 D2's to run at 1ohm. So I wanted to stay with Q Power because I want a system that the everyday person can afford but still compete and carry home a trophy with. I will be competing in the SPL lanes also so this is really an SPL build for my Tahoe. I will be running aero ports on the box instead of the traditional wooden slot port. I want something different and hopefully a little better performing. I will post pics of some boxes I came up with in torres. I will post the Aero Port box and the Slot Port box below. I will adding another Soundstream rub2500.1D to the one I got so I can strap them and run 5k. Also will be adding 2 more batts just so the electrical wont struggle. I will build the box and add the subs before I up my power and electrical. First off does anyone have any D2 15" subs that are around $100-$115? I am looking for something that can handle 1250w rms daily for when I run 5K to them. The 2 12" Q Power's I got now are rated at 700rms but 1500 peak and are taking the 2500w really well. All the subs I have been pricing are $200+. Looking to stay under 500 for all 4 15's. For SPL wouldn't 4 15's post higher scores than 2 18's? if not please correct me so I wont be wasting money on a system that wont post anything near 145 in the lanes. To reach a 145 if I really HAVE to save more and spend more on subs then just let me know. The goal is a 145 @ 35-40hz. Tuning: I am thinking around 30-32hz and have the box around 15.5ft*3. Aero Port: Slot Port: Thanks for any opinions or any help -James
