  1. Which would sound louder 2 800 rms 15"s or 1 2000 rms 15"?
  2. Anybody have experience with these subs? I purchased one for one of my buddy's builds in his 2000 chevy silverado 1500 regular cab, let me start off by saying fuck my life there is no room behind the seats to put anything.... So I ordered the sub from Sonic http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_45988_NVX-NSW104.html And I gotta say for $70 the build quality on this thing seems awesome. Plans are to hook it up to this (when I get the money from him to order it) http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_67857_MB-Quart-OA500.1.html And put it in this box I have designed, again, this truck has no room behind the seats so this is gonna be the most complicated box I have made so far! Box will be 1.35'^3 Net @36hz (1.59'^3 Gross) with 12.5"^2 per ft^3, he listens to mostly country so I figured this would work good for him, got a router with a roundover bit this time so I figured that will help if for any reason this isn't enough port area for this sub so we don't get port noise. Already got the lines drawn out on what I had left over for a sheet of 3/4" mdf, as long as I don't fuck up any cuts I have just enough to do this box (which is great cause this kid is a cheap bastard and I'm getting like $60 to build this box and install this shit). As usual all tips are accepted and any knowledge and experience is greatly appreciated. I will let everyone know how well this sub does when all is said and done since I don't see many builds with NVX subs.
  3. I have heard that a round perfect circle speaker will sound better compared to an oval or a square sized speaker because it can produce sound waves more accurately. I was also told that a 6.5 inch is the perfect mid range speaker, because it is round, isn't too large, but isn't too small. Does the shape of the speaker really matter when it comes to the sound of the speaker? Would a 5 inch speaker sound better compared to a 6.5 or would a 4x10 blow them all out of the water. What do you think when it comes to speaker size and shape? What's your "perfect speaker"?
  4. wtb a dc audio level 4 in decent condition for 225 prefer a 12 or 15 inch mostly 12 very serious buyer zip 77505
  5. im looking for some good 6 inch speakers that have outstanding SQ but not a heavy hit on my wallet. any suggestions?
  6. Im having trouble making a box to fit behind the seat of my single cab s10. i talked to someone who has put two 12" level 3s behind his, and i even got the dimensions of his box but it wont fit! i already ordered one of my subwoofers so there isnt any turning back now but I was wondering if anyone has any advice or tips or solutions. and yes i know i should do a blow through but i dont have the money. please help!
  7. Hi Guys, I own an BMW e23 1980 and two Kicker L7's 15 inch Right now I got them both mounted on the back of my rear seat, doesn't sound too bad but i figured a box would sound a lot better. So these are the max dimensions of the box i could build hope you guys could help me out building the best box i can fit in the trunk. H: 35 cm / 13.78 inches* W: 80 cm / 31.50 inches* D: 60 cm / 23.62 inches* If the dept gets smaller (around 40 cm) i can get the box higher up to 40 cm 15.75 inches* For the port location is it better to point it into the car ? Cause i already got an hole cut in the middle of the back of the rear seat plate. Thanx for any help. *converted with google.
  8. So i've read many threads asking a similar question on a variety of sites but i never saw a good "educated" response which didn't sound like it was written by a 15 year old. Just to clear things up, is there a negative to going with 1 "good" 15" sub, instead of 2 "crappier" 12"s?? I don't have the power, budget or cabin room to run 2 sa12s so im deciding between 1 sa15 or 2 e12s. It's a really hard decision to make, due to the many myths u hear about 15" subs, so any help will be greatly appreciated! Also just to support my decision, does anyone here think that 2 sa12s on 1700 watts is just too overkill for a corolla 15"??
  9. I've spec'd out a box using WINISD and Torres for my DC Audio Level 4 12" D1, and I want to make sure I get a second opinion on it before pulling the trigger. I plan on doing a plexi-glass panel on the front of the box to show off the motor and basket, so I want to make sure the box is right the first time around. Here's the sub porn pics: The sub box is 2.5 ft^3 Net with a 6" aeroport at 22" long tuned to 34 HZ. Plan to use a big ass port with an elbow to accomplish that length of port in this box so that both sub and port fire upwards. Dimensions are 15"hX15"dX33"w with a double baffle on the top (15"x33"). My biggest concern is if this box is too big for this sub. This seems to be the only size I was able to get this sub to play out well in WINISD with 1500 watts being put to it at a 2ohm load. I gained over 3.5 db on the Transfer Function Magnitude chart at roughly 44hz, and managed to keep the Port Velocity below 31.88 m/s peak, peak being at roughly 32 HZ. I also managed to keep the peak excursion at 22.3mm at 25 HZ, so the sub should never bottom out on even the lowest notes. Does anyone see any improvements that can be made on this design? Or does anyone think this box is too big for this sub, who can manage to get proper port area for this sub with 1500 watts at 2 ohms to it without adding 1+ cubes to the box size in doing so? Thanks guys!
  10. Hi all, looking for some suggestions on a 10" sub for a custom sealed .7 cu.ft. fiberglass enclosure (not including polly) for my Touareg. Running an old Alpine V12 M605 so I can do 400x1 @ 4 ohms or 600x1 @ 2 ohms. I have a couple subs in mind but trying to see others suggestions before I decide. I also don't want to do the VS thing as per the rules. I've been out the loop for many years so brands that use to be good has all changed. Trying to keep it under $200. Kinda time restricted as I my old sub tinsel just broke off the spider lead and I miss my low end. Listen to all types of music except country. Wife likes Rock and Metal, I like Rock to Rap and Electronic. Thanks.
  11. Hey Guys, Longish Backstory, I have been working on getting my system dialed in with my current car(01' Chevy Monte Carlo SS)It's great and I used the advice from here and some other forums to build my last box and it went great,Been using it for about a little over a year now and impresses all of my buddies. With me living in Wisconsin where there is snow there is salt and the poor monte is getting really bad in the rust department. So I found a Chevy Avalanche with 4 wheel drive for the nasty winters here. I just want to transplant my system from the monte to the Av. I don't want to do anything crazy in depth yet on the box because I would like to get another woofer to match the other because I have the space in this vehicle, but for now just one. The Box, I want to build a box to fit into the midgate space of a 02' Chevy Avalanche Z71. I have already a RF P3 D2 15 from my previous car and really want to stick with this woofer for budget reasons. I was playing around in WinISD and got a box that looked good to my untrained eye. Ported 6 Ft^3 Tuned to 25hz for a nice flatish freq response for the space I have available ( Around 6 cubes ) Port - 6in circle port, 15.8in long Link to Graph - http://imgur.com/Rhlk3cl What do you guys think? Am I way off?
  12. Ok guys Yeah its me! Im here to bring you my new project that i spent a while on and alot of money. Its a 8 inch subwoofer in a backpack for me and my friends when we bmx or ride with our bikes or just chill in our hood. It consists of an 8 inch pyle blue wave DVC subwoofer (600 watt peak/ 120 watt rms) 8 inch pioneer shallow enclosure. BOSS Riot R1002 2 channel Amplifier ( 200 watts peak/ 50 watts rms bridged) Legacy 8 gauge wiring kit. 7.8ah rechargeable Lead Sealed Acid Battery. Ipod. This project i worked on costed me so far $150. I originally was going to put in a 8 inch SSL in the enclosure but i wanted bigger exersion. I just bought as of today a 18ah Lead Sealed Acid Battery and another Boss Riot amplifier so i could have each amplifier wired to each channel to almost match rms of the subwoofer and make it louder. I also just bought a set of 500 watt peak tweeters. When the new stuff comes in ill post pics of it all ready and playing. Also Video. Problems: I had to reorder a new Boss amplifier in the beginning because one of my friends were destracting me when i was wiring it to the battery and i blew the amp. Subwoofer to tall for the enclosure so i had to cut out 8 inch cardboard rings to stack it up. 8 inch ssl subwoofer and nothing to do with it. This is it guys! msg or post here if you have any questions or concerns. *UPDATED PIC* 2nd Boss amplifier for other voice coil all ready for the new 18ah battery comming monday
  13. Back with a new car, and a new build. 2018 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback will be the new canvas. And here is the Sub! DC Audio Level 4 12 D1 with direct leads, carbon fiber cap, and candy red basket: So far I have designed a box in WINISD and Torres to come up with a 2.5 ft^3 Net box with a 22" long 6" aero port (Big Ass Port.) I will post up screenshots from each program to get a second look at the specs in the box building section. Plan is to hook this bad boy up to my Rockford Fosgate T1500bdcp at 2 ohms, providing 1500 watts at a slightly higher efficiency than the amp provides at 1 ohm. For the doors so far, we have some SSA Evil 6.5s tucked in with some NVX deadener and Stinger FAST Rings. Doors are definitely not complete, but it's a start. Evils vs stock speakers: This will be a slow build, but it's going to get exciting, so stay tuned!
