  1. edit because some people cant see when i edit so i have to re-do set your gains correctly and make sure it has a clean signal, to check on the volt drop get a volt meter and monitor your voltage if your volts starts to drop then don't go any higher on the head unit
  2. funny how now you guys say streetwires is no good and a few years ago that wire was very good http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/34085-streetwires-is-this-brand-any-good/
  3. yes its enough. i used about 2 feet for power and about 5 for ground, if you are going to fuse it make sure the fuse is the correct size
  4. yeah some people just dont know, they even say FI AA and DC are knock offs. people just cant belive when they hear mine and say they are louder than their JL audios, then they get mad when i tell them how much i paid for my subs
  5. level the subs and that would help to keep a consistant flat plus you get to havr the port at back
  6. yes i left it on there, should i 0 gauge that sucker? most likely thats the problem because i have no volt drop at the batteries when listening to music from 14.5 it drops to 14.2 and its just my dash lights that dim oh and my windows move slower too
  7. i have 2 runs of 1/0 wire to back batteries plus the stock that goes to the distribution block plus the 1/0 gauge wire to alternator also used the connectors mechman supplied
  8. yes i been reading on how to do the big 3 and i went to the battery so the battery has 3 grounds to it. the stock one the other to alt and another to frame
  9. i does it when i accelerate not at idle and its happen quickly
  10. its a 1998 ford expedition and the alt is a 300a and does 240a at idle so it should have the power to not have any lights dim, my dash is dim without anything being on just the lights
  11. hi guys, i just installed my HO alternator and noticed that my dash lights are dim and when i accelerate they go bright. also i am checking my voltage and its sitting at 14.5 and it jumps up to 16 volts for a quick second then goes back to 14.5. i also changed my wires to 1/0 gauge but went straight to the battery and not the distribution block you guys think that could be the problem? fyi the stock alternator never did that so im guessing i might even have belt slip because the pulley is much smaller than the stock one and has very little contact area
  12. a deep cycle battery, any would work but XS is one of the best
  13. yes his been going to RE distributors to get his enclosure done by them
  14. i let my subs do the talking the other day and he told me my expedition was falling apart, was hurting his ears, and couldn't even talk cause it was choking him out.he still believes the idiots at the audio shops because im not a professional, they havent proved anything to him and i have with the subs playing and showing him Steve's install with the t4000.1 to each. Most likely he does tries and believe them because he paid more for his RE XXX then what i paid for mine and i get louder and he dont want to admit that i told him so
  15. i did and since he has gone to the RE warehouse he thinks they are US built, i tell him they are china parts and he still thinks RE is the shit and also believes they can handle 4000 rms because they told him so, if i recall his XXX blew out the first week with 1700 rms going to it lol
  16. my brother has been going to audio shops to get his install and he asked about FI and they told him they where RE knockoffs lol so my brother was laughing at me saying i had knockoff subs so i responded to him my knockoff subs are way louder than his RE XXX he has, my brother has been believing everything they tell him about FI and Scott and that they are just copies of RE and that everything i read on the web are lies created just to get people to buy, honestly i think the subs speak for themselves
  17. the funny thing is it burned 2 just as i plugged them and making sparks, i unplugged my dome lights and it worked so will try with loud music and see what happens, you think it can be the bulb i used, autozone didnt have the right one so i got some that looked them same, they worked for over a month though and one went out the other day together with my fuses
  18. i tried Gatorade once and it worked for me, i'm not really a drinker though
  19. the funny part is him knowing there is a hit on him and there is no link to prove it
  20. mine took a month too and its worth the wait trust me
  21. it did it again but i wasnt even playing music, i changed the fuse and by the time i got in the truck the fuse was blown again not even a minute, so now i think i have a short somewhere and dont know how it happen since it has never done that
  22. go with the H/O alt you will fry your amp, you dont have to get a very expensive one just one that can handle the demand
