hmm, my buddy did a setup with those 13.5 w7's and at low volumes it was poundin the hell out of the lows, it was in a bmw 750i 2 of em ran from a mtx 1501d with a shit ton of mids n highs, wish i had a digi cam back then to take pics, oh and the boxs he had were sealed to, subs went on the sides n amps down the middle of trunk but jl's are tough as shit, i got a jl wo 10 that the surround got ruined n i was playin with it when i was takein my other 15's out n wanted to see how it liked about 600rms or so and it took it like a champ lol but i didn't try to blow it cause i aint got the monies to replace my amp wit tho oh and play this song if u wanna see some flex, when it hits the low notes it flexed the hell out of the back glass in that bmw song is "kieth sweat ft. snoop dogg - come and get with me" i tryed to find it on youtube but never got anywere

every box ive built last were built from 3/4'' 13ply birch plywood, with 2'' brad nails, and elmer's wood glue with bath tub silicone in edges and none have ever been blown apart, i quit usein screws cause brad nails dont take up as much space n kinda secure better cause if u predrill n counter sink screws ur weaking the joint and makein it easyer for the screw to strip out this not only goes with sub/speaker boxs but everything else ive ever built, if u nail it right the first time no need for screws, i only use screws for subs/speakers now, none on speaker box i useto build cabnets n distplay cases with my gpa n dad alot when i was lil, so lets say ive only been workin wit wood for 10yrs or so, its simple but it would be cool for a how to sub box deal, i kno we got the fiberglass help but for some ppl they need help wit how to do ported boxs, i can build pritty much anything if i got a somewhat blueprint to go by but custom never has blueprints lol would be nice tho

lol, i wasnt upset its just he wanted a way to do it without recone n thats bout the only way to do it, ive spent about 48hrs workin on my system takein everything out n puttin back n when i go to reset the amp the damn tinsel breaks so it pisses me off n now that this works perfect i was just tryin to help the guy out were all friends here edit: off topic but how do u take off a dustcap without cuttin the cone so i can ca glue it back together? my nefhew likes to mess with shit n i had these layin on the floor in my room n i think he dropped somethin on em n cracked the dustcap, pics it works fine but lets air threw n i wanna seal it back up, i called mitek to see if they still had parts for these n they said no so im tryin to do it without messin anything up on it due to these are some beefy subs that take alot of abuse n get loud to, im sick of my mtx 5500 1544's, might do somethin in my geo with em but there not stayin in my truck no longer lol

make sure if u ever soilder the tinsel back to try to heat up the terminal to so the head desperation is even n soilder bonds good, i use rosin core soilder by dutch boy, its like 1/16'' thick but u can get it in 1/8 if u want to, same thing they use to sweat copper pipe, just dont use a torch to soilder wit, might burn cone lol

heres pics of mine, the neg is the one i replaced cause it came loose befor, n soildered it up n it works perfect its in a fuckin box n no one will ever know ecept him about it so why n how is it ghetto? ied soon save $150 for somethin else than a damn recone for a good woofer cone pushed all the way up = no tinsel strech it dnt look bad to me n they dont make my subs anymore so i have no way of a recone so an easy fix or a new woofer, i choose easy fix its on him what he wants to do, all he asked is how to fix it without gettin a recone, not if it would be ghetto or not, if it works n saves $150 then it damn sure aint ghetto in my book

wtf is ghetto about it? why spend $150 to fix somethin that aint broke? its a minor fix n if its in a box who the hell can see it? and what if the time comes to where u cant get a recone anymore for a certian sub? i dnt see doin a fukin recond for a broke tinsel, i mean $5 fix or $150 for a recone that u will halfto rip apart the speaker n all that bullshit n fix he said Any ideas apart from a recone, mainly due to it taking ages to get one means he wants an easy fix n what i posted was an easy fix but if he wants to replace a speaker that aint blown its not my money

i got a 100w wen soildering iron(oldschool) deal that i use, but that does work n its how i got my mtx 8000 done now and it WILL WORK lol i'll take a vid of mine if need be, or take pics just to show what it looks like, if u tape it out of the way good enough it wont rub ur spider to death oh ya, speakerwire is alot cheaper than recone is, no need to recone to fix a simple tinsel break

take tinsle loose then soider a piece of 14guage speaker wire to it, most tinsle leads are 16-14guage anyways so it wont make any diff, then heatshrink and take some electrical tape n tape to one of the spokes on basket n ur fixed one of my mtx 8000 15's had this problem so i said fuk it n unsoildered the tinsel, soildered some 14guage speaker wire to it n taped it up real tight n taped to one of the spokes on the basket so it dont move around n irritate the spider n it plays perfect just make sure u give the tinsle some slack when doin this unless they are woven tinsels then it dont matter cause they move wit spider so its all good ive had to do this to my old set of audiobahns to n they worked perfect, i unno if this will void a warenty or not but its a simple fix but it works perfectly, when theres a dry day ima put my 8000's back in my truck lol if they was ever a way to vix a tinsel ive tryed it already to get that damn sub to work n this fixed it, its not the prittyest thing to look at but it works u can take a 14guage but connector n crimp it then heatshrink it to make it a lil cleaner but buttconnectors dont seem to hold good on tinsel leads that good but i was a real noob back then so it might still work ok hope this helps

what bout this amp? ive seen a few ppl run hifonics with alpine n had good results but i unno ive never ran anything amp wise than majestic, memphis n mtx n sony but looks good n for a decent price
