i hate steam, got a 25mb connection, even if i limit it to 7mb it kills my internet. wtf

Idk what it may be exactly, but I wouldn't say only downloading from Steam would do that.

Try something like netlimiter. Limits the applications bandwidth use rather than the steam settings which always seem patchy.

Opened steam for the first time in months and it killed my net also, and required a reboot just to get the net back for everything else.
