  1. maybe water pump listen to this one of course you would think it would do it all the time if it was.
  2. ^^ You can use a "slot" or regular screwdriver too, touch somewhere on the engine with it and put your ear to the handle. but yeah be careful man.
  3. you can go with a bigger fuse in the battery cable wire to the amp cause you are just protecting that wire with that fuse, not the amp. It has it's own fuses for that.
  4. Are you running anything else off that fuse under the hood? I didn't see anything in your sig, but still.
  5. Um, you are talking about that loudness at the end? was your a/c or defroster on? if it was turn all your heater controls to off and put your a/c/heat/defrost selector to off or just floor and see if it goes away. Cause i think its the a/c compressor
  6. how much worse on the MPG we talking? i mean i thought 9-10 was bad enough, if i put it in will it drop below 7-8? if you are getting 10mpg then you probably have a huge ass diesel engine or something, so i doubt you will see any difference at all in hp or mpg. For instance my truck that gets 13mpg empty get 11-12 even when pulling 10,000lbs of scrap iron. Lol no diesel, just a 5.7 350 chevy smallblock. But the mileage is so bad because its old, pulls a 5500lb car, and everyone seems to want to race my ass like they have an F1....... Like i said, it probably makes a bit of hp and torque, torque is what you need to turn alt(s). I doubt you will really even notice. You may at the strip though. every 100lbs = 10hp or something

  8. wont reduce hp other than the alternator(s) may lug your engine more. MPG yes that will suffer. Your engine makes the same hp, just less gets to the flywheel cause its turning alts.
  9. hod the CTRL key and scroll your mouse wheel down. Don't know what else to tell you except they make add-ons for browsers that do stuff, i wont go into that here.
  10. I'm going to go buy 10 50farad caps and hook them in series to my amps, higher voltage is moar power!!!!!!1111one
  11. Don't ban the guy yet, give him a chance. Good advice man, if you want to ask a question here, read the rules, then google your question first. If you cant find your answer then ask. As long as its not against the rules.
  12. You can also use a 3/8 bolt through your terminals then bolt that To something with the bigger hole on one side and a 3/8 hole on the other. An adapter of sorts.
  13. Well, i have spray adhesive and staples, i think i can make it stay one way or another. I'll use both.
  14. Ok, so i checked the first 3 pages here and didn't see this. I'm trying to carpet a cutout in a board. Just to simplify think of a 4'X4' board 1/2" thick with a hole 3'X2' in the middle. i want to carpet the board and wrap the carpet around the edges and behind a bit. I want to make sure no wood shows from the top. Am i right in thinking that i just cut an "X" in the middle going to the corners but stopping about an inch from the actual corner to get the look i want? I have had problems in the past where the carpet will not touch in the corners and i get a gap so i dont want that to happen. One more thing, I may want to round the corners of the cutout. if i do that then what do i do to my carpet cuts. I hope this is the right section.
  15. well, don't buy walmart wire and you never will. lol
  16. me either i guess we're slow He got "4 gauge" wire, turned out to be 6 gauge, then learned about the importance of brand names and research Exactly, i thought i had 4ga but put it in so long ago forgot it was 6ga. so i'm going from 6 to 4. Kinda pointless really.
  17. look at my username, what do you expect man. Give me some slack
  18. So, i'm rewiring my entire hatch area, new connectors, soldering things, heat shrink, flex loom. All that good stuff. I get all my 4ga stuff done and i'm moving my power cable from my front battery that runs to the hatch over to where the rear battery is going to be and i think to myself, "damn, this wire seems kinda small compared to my other 4ga. This Scoshe stuff is junk as hell. Then i take a close look and realize... it's 6ga. /facepalm. I guess it doesnt really matter cause i'm running only about 1200 watts but still. Anyway i'm going to run some of my extra 4ga to replace it. i would run 0/1 but i just spent about 400 bucks on something for my car that i'll keep secret for now. *waits for "Good story bro" comment*
  19. I agree completely, but the o.p. made it sound like he does switch back and forth, I just figured he could eliminate clipping there by check it too.
  20. you can also check the aux out on your phone (using the dd-1) with with a headphone to rca adapter.
  21. I would pick one method, usb or aux. then test your headunit again with the dd1 while using that source then remember that volume when you use that source
  22. Sound like the head unit's rear left isn't working or the connection on the rca's is bad along the line from the head unit to the amp. when you go too center the amp is passing the front left thru the pass through but not when you fade to the rear channels. Try swapping the front/rear on your first amps inputs from the head unit, then fade to rear and see if you lose a front speaker . I think that will tell you if that's the case. I think thats right. edit* or just disconnect all but left rear off your headunit and see if you lose sound altogether.
  23. that could work, drop a flood light in the trunk ad close it, then go up front and check, or vice versa with trunk open. and a night of course.
