How to keep alternator cool?
87chevyboi replied to SnowDrifter's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
if i were you id take some rubber hose pretty thick but not to thick where you cant bend it and run it to the lower valance of the car or behind the grill or somewhere and make it blow right on the alternator, i have never done it to an alternator but i have done it to the intake. Its like putting a cold air intake on a car as long as its not it the engine bay it will work but if you run a cold air intake and have it in your engine next to all the heat how is it going to work? -
How much power do I need?
87chevyboi replied to dbslayerdrake's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
i have a 97 tahoe and i was thinking of buying a 270 amp alt but now im thinking i want to run a 300 amp alt so i dont have to have as many batterys. I am going to be running anywhere from 5k to 7k worth of watts. What would you recomend as far as alt and batteries? I was thinking when i wanted the 270 to get a 270, 2 or 3 group 31 batterys and a d6500 under the hood. That sound about right for at least 5k watts? -
i think it will work out and the supertweeters are prolly 8 ohms so your going to wire them down anyways and theyll be loud as hell, so im pretty sure the 10s will work out fine man.
-
if i was you id run the 2 10s together as 2 ohms and the other 2 supertweeters on a diff channel at 4 ohms. Ive ran them like that not a kicker amp tho, id say try it and worst case your amp gets hot fast so you just undo it. Best way to learn if your amp can is to try it oh and google that ? and youll find answers

what i was thinking of doing was building a port tuned to whatever my resonant freq. is in my truck lets say its 48 hz or 50 hz build the port to do that, then build a smaller width maybe longer port to tune it down to 33-35 hz for daily. Would that work? or would it mess in internal volume up when i add the longer port therefore not letting the subs get what they need? sorry im new to this interchangeable port lol

90-99 chevy truck or suv a-pillar pods
87chevyboi replied to 87chevyboi's topic in For Sale: Car audio related equipment only
i think from 1 to 2 inches and ill pm for a finished price what are you talking about wrapping them with? -
ok now this is what you should do next, have the brain out and find out which wires control the actuator and check the voltage on it when you click the button for it to pop, if it is getting volts then you know the actuator is going out if its not getting volts then you know there is a problem with something else.

the one on the left isnt that low its just hanging down cuz i didnt have it up, but thats the concept of them -
ok i have a set of a pillar pods i built and didnt like them they were a little too high for my taste, they are not finished i will ship them as is or finish them for a little extra. This might sound like a dumb idea lol but to me thats alot of work fiberglass and bondo in it plus the money for the stuff so i figured somebody might want to skip doing them and just buy mine lol. Price is negotiable and the buyer pays shipping. Im thinkin 40 dollars for them and an extra 10 if i finish bondoing and getting them slick. For a little more i can wrap them or paint them whatever color you want sorry for the size of the pics i cant figure out how to resize them
