  1. I think a buffer would be fine to use, its not like you are going to be using a cutting compound.
  2. Most 3 way component sets come with passive crossovers so just plug and play basically. If you were to go active then you would need an electronic crossover of some sort to run seperate amps, or channels of a 4 channel amp to the different speakers individually.
  3. Well I spoke with the owner of zoops again today ad he was telling me the alternators will come with a lifetime warranty, pretty happy about that. Will take them a couple weeks to build the system for me. And if i ever do decide I dont want that much electrical, the 2nd alternator bracket just unbolts and you can run a shorter belt. As far as ruining the car goes, I bought it to cruise it, not race it. Plus these old cars have so many parts available anything can be undone and brought back to stock very easily if you ever wanted to do that.
  4. The serpentine conversion system is $3500 which isnt bad considering its fully loaded with ac and ps. I called alot of places and no one even recommends a ho alt for a v belt because they said it would slip, so I needed to get a serpentine system anyways. Edit: $3829.00 Didnt factor in CA state tax.
  5. Yeah man before i bought my 65 i eyeballed a few 70's and 72's. The 72 just has such awesome tailights that they outweight the awesome headlights of the 70, in my mind anyway. The 70's front end is gorgeous but the 70's are really so popular because they were at the height of horsepower for chevelles, before they started limiting it.
  6. Yeah man just carefully cut it out with like a dremel tool and your eq should fit perfect
  7. Of course it will wrinkle once its had a hole chewed through it. It creates a weak spot in the cone.
  8. It looks like either water got on that spot or a rodent chewed through it or puncture.
  9. You can find 4/0 boat wire on ebay for pretty cheap, if flexibility wasnt an issue i would get that.
  10. It wont be 800 at 2 ohms, probably like 1200
  11. Yeah man just meter each sub, if you are at 8 ohms its right, then wire them all together. No biggie dude on not knowing how.
  12. After searching everywhere I have found the perfect system I am going to buy. I contacted all the usual places for an alt but seems all the alts come with serpentine pulleys and my chevelle is old style v belt. So i knew I needed to get a serpentine system, but which to choose? I began calling them all and seeing what they could do. March performance makes a dual alt serpentine conversion, but only uses their 140 amp alts and the placement of the alts is right where my radiator hose would go, so thats a negative on march. I emailed vintage air, no response, negative on vintage air. Billet specialties, no dual setup, no high performance alts. Synister serpentine, no dual setups, no high output alts. Finally found zoops, they make a dual alternator setup with either 150, 200, or 320 amp alts, so im going to buy the 320 amp dual alt serpentine system. I called the place today and the owner actually answers the phone which is nice. We talked for awhile and he emailed me the specs plus price. heres a picture of the system on a big block, the one im getting is going to be a small block and it hasnt even been in production yet, so its special order custom. Just wanted to put this out there for people with old schools as an option, because our cars get no love in this game.
  13. use a meter also man, to wire voice coils in series you basically just connect the negative and positive of one coil together, then use the other voice coil set of wires to connect with all the other subs.
  14. I love the rear tailights on the 72's and the headlights on the 70's.
  15. Yeah man its the same as series parralel but with 8 subs, wire the voice coils in series on each sub, then wire all the subs together in parralel.
  16. each sub when wired n series would be 8 ohms, 8 subs at 8 ohms divided by eight = 1.
  17. looks like if you series all the voice coils then wire 8 subs in parralel you end up with 1 ohm.
  18. I prefer the composite toes over steel toes. much lighter and still rated as steel toes. steel toes arent any stronger then any other rated toes, they are just heavier. I have used redwings, cats, timberlands. I have wide feet so i prefer timberlands because they are more comfortable then redwings to me.
