  1. one big chamber....I don't know about going higher....you should be okay at 4 ft3 per sub....what does fi suggest for air volume?
  2. That looks goo, but instead of using walls with cut-outs I would use 2x4's or the steel rods. FYI 16 sq" per cubic foot is pretty standard to get everything out of your subs. Going smaller will increase port velocity and can cause noise, as well as lower your maximum spl

  4. extra bracing....but let's assume 19 ft3 @ 16sq" port area per cube = 304 sq".....say 20 x 15 x 20 (tunes to 35 hz) equals port dispalacement of 3.47.....SO recalculate 19ft3 minus roughly 3 ft3 of port = 16ft3 then 250 sq" of port.....20 x 12.5 x 21 (35 hz) port dispacament of 3.03 ft3....we have a winner it's that easy edit to add not that easy just been doing it a while.....hope this helps :^

  8. smae thing with s sqaure port except you make a square (like 10 3/4 x 12 3/4) hole instead of a round one. then build a square port to slide in
  9. I have a bunch of formulas here, but I don't want to explain. You can download winisd for free. It's not the best design program but it will tell you how long to make your port to tune a box. I learned from "Great Sound Stereo Speaker Manual" by David Weems. So you can "learn it" or just use the programs available on the internet. I learned it but just use programs because it's easier then doing all the math. If you still want help or to double check your answer just ask. I would suggest in the mean time playing with the numbers but nothing exact until your enlosure is in the building process so you know exact air volume. Also, I've been told to keep the H*W around 4 to 1 ratio to keeep down port noise.
  10. sounds like a problem with the x-over. In x-overs they use things (like mini light bulbs) to lessen the amount of power going to the tweets. you maybe overloading them. Try finding x-over units (robot underground sells 'em) or just get some cheap caps from radio shack to test. Run your tweets by themselves (no x-over or mid) and see how they run. YOU HAVE TO either cross your amp or add an external x-0ver (like a cap form radioshack) above 3500 hz or you will fry your tweets. If you have no problems then you know it's the supplied x-over and you can replace them.
  11. square port is just height times width for your port area then length for tuning. 12-16 sq inches port ft3 of vent per cubic foot of box.
  12. I was looking for a little clarification on the rules. What I'm interested in knowing is does the string test/below window line count if the enclusre is in the trunk. I was planning a 4 12" woofer configuration for my car. The basics of it would have two twelves and port facing back seat (seat will be down while competing) and two twelves through the back parcel shelf. But my parcel shelf comes above the window line. Will this matter since the enclosure will be in the trunk? The enclosure will not exceed 25" tall and the subs in the parcel shelf will be flush so none of the enclosure will actually be in "cab". This will be my first competing system and I would like to stay in "stock class" Thankyou
  13. IS that because they are aftermarket or because of the brand? My last car was an Audi A6 with projecter HID's and they kicked ass. I actually want to change my current headlights but not if the aftermarket ones aren't better then halogens

  18. Now you tell us, . Then the FI BTL 18" with a Rockford T40001. Since your only using one add all the options and you'll be good.
  19. easily, my guess though is you don't have 7 ft3. You would need to subtract about 1ft3 for the port plus sub displacement and bracing. ALso is this max external if so you need to subtract wall thickness at least doubled 3/4" Mdf. It's not a huge enclosure but should be good.
  20. Hell yeah, and well under 3g's. RF T40001 ebay $1300 FI BTL 15's $600 wow still money to burn for like line-drivers and extra 0/1 gauge
