  1. I'm not a pro in this area so please be patient. I recently had my sub installed at a shop in my area along with an amp and a lc7i. Whenever I crank the volume up I get this low rumbling sound from the sub. It makes this noise even when there is no bass in the music I'm listening to (i.e. intro, outro). However, it doesn't make this noise while the music is paused. When I looked in my trunk i noticed that they ran all of my signal cables with my power and ground, so I figure there's a ground issue. I went back to have it looked at and the guy told me that since my car is so small it will make that noise due to the amount of bass that I have, and if it was in the trunk of a small car instead of the back of an suv I wouldn't hear it. None of this sounds correct to me, am I correct in assuming that he was just being lazy? I also noticed that my bass knob does not turn my amp all the way off. When the knob is all the way down I can still hear my sub, just at a much lower volume. Is this normal? Oh yeah, due to my sub being a 2ohm and my amp not being 1ohm stable I am forced for now to operate at a 4ohm load. This is only pushing 750 watts to a sub that 1100 watts is recommended for. The instructions say that I can safely power it with 500-1200 watts rms. Could this be a contributing factor? 2009 BMW X3 single Kicker Comp Q 15 Kicker ZXS1500.1 Audiocontrol LC7i
  2. I have two alpine type X's with a American bass vfl 4480 hybrid amp. I forget what model my head unit is but it has 5v pretty outs. I plan to put these in a 2002 Bonneville so I can have a car for music. Will the amp be enough to power both? Any tips or trick to get louder is always appreciated.

  6. Anyone can build a woofer box, slap some carpet on it, and with basic instructions of hooking up an amp, let the gear do its job and make you look like the hero... But we all know that deep down inside! How about really seperating your install apart with some trick motorization gear, For $300 plus shipping (heavy so I estimate in the 48 around $50 shipping) you get the following: 2 36" 300lb capacity drawer slides brand new 1 36" 200lb capacity linear actuator brand new 2 22" 100lb capacity drawer slides brand new 1 12" 75lb capacity linear actuator new was used for a mock up of a larger plan Spent about $1k for everything, but it is just sitting around Here is some creative things you can do with it: motorize a big screen up/dn motorize an amp drawer hidden under a woofer enclosure motorize a woofer enclosure motorize a smaller amp/eq drawer motorize a seat out motorize a drawer out of another motorized drawer and yes, you can even do this for home use! possibilities are only limited by your imagination PayPal ONLY! and I will ship the 48 states, anything else conatct me [email protected]
  7. I am going to be installing my own system in a few months and I just want to get a game plan on how I am going attack this project. The car is going to be a 2007 Escalade with Nav. I do NOT plan on changing the head unit… The components I have right now are 2 Skar MA-8 D4 and 2 sets of Skar VXI 6.5s. The rest (amps and power) is up in the air. I will be making my own ported box for my 8's to go behind my 3rd row using one of the many designs that I have seen on here. The next step is to get signal to the amps that I do not have yet. I have been looking into the Audiocontrol LC6i or the LCQ-1. I feel that one of these would be a better addition than just a cheap LOC… If there are better options, please let me know!! I plan on putting the amps under the captains chairs in the back so they are going to have to be somewhat small. ( I did see a JL 1000/1v2 under one of the seats one time when I googled it.) So there is a limit on how much space I can use. My budget is roughly $2,000 for the whole thing including the parts listed above. So roughly $1,500 left for amps, power, deadener, Big 3?, etc… So, long story short, what should be the first step I take to make this install go smoothly and efficiently? Should I do the power first, then the amps, then the speakers and do the Audiocontrol last? And you guessed it, I am a SuperNoob but feel that I have the skills to do this install without too many problem because I have been reading on this site for a while now and I feel that I learn something every time I am on the site… I dabbled a little in High School so I have some knowledge in the world of car audio. Thanks for the help guys! I know there is a ton of knowledgeable people on here that i think can help! Thanks again! Evan
