  1. Pics inbound! wanna thank TaylorPro over on caco for ALOT of helpful advice. This was my first box build on my own by the way!
  2. Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and I wanted to get some suggestions to add more bass to my set up. I currently have a 2013 Chevy Camaro with the following gear: Stock Head unit Audio Control Processor Alpine 4.100 4ch Amplifier Alpine PDXM12 Mono Amplifier rated at 1200 to 1400 RMS Polk RM component for highs Kicker L7(2008 Model) in a sealed 1.5 cubic enclosure I've heard that Kickers are loud but not good for SQL, but I've never had a frame of comparison and in my opinion it sounds good. I'm looking to do an upgrade the subwoofer to add more bass and if I follow what I've been told any of the brands I'm looking for will have better SQL. An custom enclosure will be built for the sub I choose but I have at mat 1.5 cubic feet sealed to work with (If it can be smaller that a plus). I would like some suggestions on which set up will sound louder and have better SQL when compared to the L-7. I listen mostly to rock music and in some occassion R&B. I want to buy the subwoofer new and I have a $550 budget. The set up can be dual sub or single sub and I want to keep the airspace as low as possible (1.5cubic or less. I also want a good name brand with good customer support..... Thanks in advance for your input......
  3. I am going to be building a blow through in my 96' GMC Sierra, there will be 4 Sundown ZV3 15s I plan on running 4+ d3400s and 2 singer alts, but not exactly sure how big of an amp I can really push the subs with, don't want to completely over power them and have to be doing recones on them, I know I can run atleast 6k watts. Any suggestions?
  4. So I'm trying to design a box for my 2 zv3 12's, i have installed 2 bucket seats in the rear of my 02 chevy pickup, and things have changed a ton in that truck since i last posted here. I plan on doing 2 zv3's in a ported box in between the 2 seats, almost like a tall center console. i found a 3D model of a zv3 12 on a different fourm, but i cant get the person to respond with a link to a download. Im just trying to get an accurate look of the box, and also having a model of the sub would be cool
  5. I aint new in here, but we don't really see such kinda installs here in India. I know walled setups in other countries are common but here in India it is relatively new. Some of you folks might have checked my earlier build log posted here http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/151241-2-fi-sp4s-in-a-ford-in-india/ I was using 2 FI SP4 15"s in a ported enclosure in boot of a SUV and managed to do a hairtrick. A vid can be seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QO7nID88yJQ&feature=player_embedded Was already bored of the setup and wanted to try something new.. Went through a thread on CACO regarding 4th orders and decided to try one of those for SP4's (Got impressed by vids posted by soundstreamsilverado), Took his suggestions regarding the enclosure and that's how it all started. Once again the ride in which the setup was done..
  6. Alright, so I have designed my box. 1.72 sealed/3.0 ported. 8 inch aeroport tuned to 42hz. Sub is a single zv3 15, amp as of now is a sundown 1500 (I plan on upgrading to over 3k soon). I have drawn out some box sketches and played around in WinISD and Torres box calculator. Do the box numbers (cft, tuning, port size) sound right? I know theres a lot to play around with when it comes to box designs. I know some people will think "Just build it and see if it sounds good", but Im only 18, so I dont have all the money in the world, so if I spend this money on building the box and it doesnt turn out well, im just out that amount of money. I just want to hear some opinions on the box, good or bad. I've designed plenty of sealed/ported boxes, but just now getting into the 4th order scene. Appreciate the help
  7. Whats up guys I did a build log awhile ago with a box that had four zv3 18s in it. It was around 17.5 cubes net tuned to 33hz on about 12k rms, it was loud as hell but I no it was missing that extra punch to it. So the way my box was designed it had a removable port that took up 4.5 cubes , I mean this thing is huge. I have taken that huge port out and going to do something different now to gain some cubes and raise tuning and hopefully get a little louder. So I decided to use aero ports instead, but were im stuck is I don't no which will sound louder and better. listed below is the two options. hopefully you guys can get me some insight on what will sound better. Anybody that help let me say it now thank you, also there is a pic of the old box below so you can get an idea of what was going on. External dimensions 60L. 40w. 20H Internal dimensions 57L. 37w. 17H SUB Displace- .64 Bracing .05 Box is double layered birch all the way around. Option one: tuning 37hz net volume: 19.1ft3 port area range: 172-248" in2 port area 202" in2 four 8" aero ports Option 2: tuning 37hz net volume: 18.87ft3 port area range: 170-245" in2 port area: 226" in2 Two 12" aero port

  9. So I have a zv3 12 now. Im upgrading parts to a 15" zv4 frame, zv4 spl soft parts/zv4 coil, and night shade spider. Im only keeping the zv3 motor. I am looking for a zv3, any size, 10 through 18. I just need the motor, also if its blown or working, i still want it. Id rather get a blown one for the price difference though. If you have a blown zv3 or know anyone with even just a zv3 motor, let me know. Thanks guys
