New Box (My first build) w/ help of Chewie

Well, Chewie saw my post on a new box for 2 15 L7's and messaged me about it.

I told him I dont know anything about building a box besides actually constructing the box. im pretty decent cuz of other projects ive done for work and school.

i know almost completly nothing about volume and foot^3 and what not.

Im not really good at math and when i saw that weird equation i was like "OMGosh"

heres the dimensions of my trunk.

note. for the box to receive almost max depth of the trunk, itll have to sit between the trunk hinges.

"so i guess the max dimensions of the trunk is (if you wanna use the full 19 inch depth of the trunk and have the box sit between the gap of the trunk lid hinges is)

in inches:

42 length (gap between trunk lid hinges) x 32 width (top of narrow roof that hangs to the outside of the trunk towards the bumper) x 19 width (depth of trunk in between the trunk lid hinges)"

heres a pic that i hope will help with the dimensions of the truk inside of the truk lid hinges.

and heres what chewie came up with.

ok i have a box

it is 18 high.

42 wide.

and 20 deep. it is 6.64 cubes tuned to 35.8 hz.

the port is 16.5 high. by 5 wide by 16 long.

top 42x22

bottom 42x22

sides 16.5x20.5

front/back 42x16.5

port 16.5x15.25

port is 5 inches wide internally..

I also threw out the question

"So how much volume does this box have? And would more affect how much louder it would be?"

and chewie replied'

"the volume is 6.64 and its tuned lower.. it also has more port area.. so it will be louder

your current box looks way too small and the port looks tiny..

think of trying to breathe through a straw.. bigger straw is better for when your running lol."

and i also wanna have people comment with their feedback and opinions on whether i should start on this box or have it edited?

is this enough volume for 2 15 L7's?

is it a a big enough or should be small port?

well justy got started today, bought some .75 mdf from HD

and got everything drawn and measured.

starting to cut tomoro.

yeah that sketch up looks cheesy cause i didnt do the flush mount or anything but i didnt think you were gonna do that..

but the 6.64 cubes is after sub and bracing displacement..

also make sure the height will fit anywhere the box will be so measure 42 wide and measure 18 straight up.. if its all good.. awesome. if not hit me up before you cut.
