minitruck4sho Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Hey guys i have a problem hard to explain but here i go. OK i have an s10 ext cab and i have now two jl w7 13s just put them in but i had 1 jl 13 in it before on a jl 500/1 with 4 gauge wire a kenwood exclon head unit and a vented box build to jl specks and it played good for a while i bought it brand new and then the amp started to cut the bass by like half like i turned turned the bass down or somethin but i didnt. i thought it might be a power problem so i got a new yellow top and it still did it but the volt gauge never moved down like at all, but sometime it does move and when it does it never cuts the power out it will keep playin at the same level like normal but thats usually on warm days, but the thermal light never comes on and it never shuts off completely. so anyways i put a jl 1000/1 on it and i never had that problem like at all it works awsome and the volt gauge moves with this one and still no cut out. so thin i put a nother w7 in it and another 1000/1 and a upgraded alt and still no prob it just with the 500/1. Now i have it on a 13 w7 in my car and its not loud at all i mean it was still really loud in the truck when it worked good like really loud but in the car it just sounds like some 10s i mean it might be cause the seat dont fold down but idk. but i had a special box built for it and im running 0 gauge to 4 gauge and brand new rca cables and all that junk and it all hooked up right well i hope lol but still dont should like a w7 should tho. but another think that's diff is im runnin a sony head unit but it has sw outputs. but if anybody has any idea on whats goin on please help me out... corey0928 Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 If the amp is cutting out there's something wrong with the amp. And your sub probably isn't loud because the seats dont fold down. Quote
Cashdollar2009 Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 A sub in a single cab will sound a lot different from the same setup in a trunked car with the seats up man. Quote On 6/30/2011 at 1:11 AM, 'Ray' said: Acoustical energy is free. Electrical energy is not.

bumonskateboard6 Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 When you wired up the 2nd W7 to the 500/1 what was your ohm load at? You may have dropped low and caused some damage. Low voltage doesn't blow amps. That's a myth. A router that does the sub holes makes rounded edges also?

Cashdollar2009 Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 I'm pretty sure it went: 1) 1w7 - 500 2) 1w7 - 500, yellow top 3) 1w7 - 1000, yellow top 4) 1w7 - 1000, 2w7 - 1000, yellow top, alt At least that's what i'm getting. He never ran the pair of w7's on the 500/1. Quote On 6/30/2011 at 1:11 AM, 'Ray' said: Acoustical energy is free. Electrical energy is not.
