He's got a 1998 Chevy 2500 single cab with a big ass plow/pump on the front. It's a 'fast' pump, not one of the slow ones that takes several seconds to lift the plow up. Anyway, he's looking for a new battery. I know XS power makes good stuff, so I suggested that to him. The D925 is the best option for his price range, and it does look like a beast. Do you guys think that would be enough for this application? I just wanted to ask here before he pulls the trigger. I agree the D925 is a great battery, I just think it is a little small for your application. Wastehog Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Does his truck have a open slot of the drivers side of the truck? I would almost say that he can run dual batteries. If so, all he has to do is go to gm and get a battery tray for the drivers side of the truck and drop a second battery in. Run 0-4g to the other battery and you'll be set. Do big three also, which you said you were. I'd even upgrade the wiring to the pump with heavier gauge and make it ultra quick. If hes strapped for cash, run 2 optimas. We all know they're good. And he could even, if he doesn't already upgrade his alternator to a higher amp factory replacement. Something like 130 amps. I know all this is applicable because my uncles truck is a 1999 or 2000 Gmc Sierra 2500 and he had gotten the tray from gm dealership and was going to install it. unfortunately we never got around to it. Edit: There are 2 types of alts for the 5.7 version. 105 amp, and 124 amp. Just fyi. S15_Silvia Posted February 14, 2011 Author Report Posted February 14, 2011 Thank you guys for the replies- obviously I have knowledge to gain about batteries @EclipseChris- I'll find the specs on that S3400 and have him take the measurements. If it looks like it'll fit I may PM you about that one you know is being sold. @everyone- the truck DOES have dual battery trays in the engine bay. For whatever reason, he's only running one at the moment, but a single S3400 with the big three and larger pump wires should be good for the rest of this winter at least.
