i could post pics of my doors... my spacers are just MDF rings with gorilla tape on them LOL. shits clean tho. i like it.

just make some spacer rings man, you wont be losing much, if any midbass unless you have massive air leaks, i say put a layer or two of gasketing tape between the door panel and door if its that big of a deal to you, where you really lose midbass is your window seals tho, make sure those are in check.

im taking out my passenger seat, battery is disconnected, going to unwire and take out the three amps, take out the 70+ lb box, then the platform so i can crimp 1 wire.

Almost as bad as those fegs that put those horns in their grills and roll down the street distorting the block....

as im looking around at other mids and such, im really looking for a 6" mid

but as im thinking should i really need mids that can play down to 50,60,70 and 80hz when my substage will be covering about 60hz and below?

you think i would be better off getting midrange, 90hz+ instead, ones that would have a shallower depth along with accordion surround? having a full surround on excursion it'll hit the door panel, yet like the powerbass 4xl 6.5s i have in the rear theres no excursion out of them

okay so you want a 6" subwoofer then, because thats not what a midbass does.

if its a 6" you want, theres isnt really any better choices for midbass:

well i was looking into these:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12260_JBL-P660C.html

now i know 100% that mid will fit is because i have one with me, put it in the door panel with my MDF ring (turned it around so no flush) put the door panel on and it fits good

unless someone can help me find a link to a mid with that exact outer diameter and mounting depth (the motor is barly touching the window track, that depth is my absolute max mounting depth

the mdf will still swell up even though you painted it if it gets wet. other than that they look good and should sound nice

ive had my plywood baffles in my doors for 2 years now. doesnt look like water has even touched them. I dont think its much to worry about.

80hz is a good crossover point for mid-bass and sub stage.

by the specs, there is no way those selenuims will be good midbass drivers.

finding mid-bass with a shallow depth is a pain is the ass. most of them are about 3" deep.

I can post pics tomorrow of how much you have to cut for the mids to fit where the speaker grill goes, also the screws I used for the mids were long enough to bite into the metal of the door panel, so it doesnt flex at all.

But I should be getting my new speaker wire in tomorrow so I can post pics if you want, of the door panel without the mid in it.

Also my Rainbows have a mounting depth of 2.4inches and where too deep with a 1/4 inch spacer and with a half inch spacer would of had trouble with the surround hitting the interior door panel.
