so i wanted to lower my car for awhile, i finally got the nerve to spend the cash to get the springs... i did my research and picked a proven brand and i am less than satisfied to say the least.... i went ahead and dropped the cash on the Eibach pro springs... the car does look much better and corners well... but... im having issues that piss me off... the kit it 1.3" drop in the front and 1.1" drop in the rear... i replaced all of my struts with new oem replacements, i was told that there should NOT be any issues at all...

first, lets start with the front springs.... when i put the springs on the front struts, the springs were not compressed with the top nut on... i could easily move the springs around with the strut assembled and ready to install on the car... i did a bit more research and found that others noticed the same thing, but many people said to go ahead and install them, make sure they were seated and go ahead and drop the car down on them... fine, i did that... no major issue.. i cant hear any noise or anything... but the front end vibrates like crazy when im accelerating through 1st and 2nd gear... thats fucking annoying...

now to the rear... the assembly of the strut/spring went just fine... i was told that the bump stops would have to be cut down or else i would bottom out... so when i was assembling them i noticed that the original bump stops were rotted beyond use, so i just tossed them in the garbage and proceeded without them... the springs seated very nicely and were compressed a bit with the top nut on...everything looked great. i installed them and now i have an annoying metallic rattling/jingling noise comming from both rear struts... i think it may just be the washer thing that held the bump stops in place, sitting there rattling around.. i plan on taking them back off and looking at it this week... so on to the next issue... if i hit a mild dip in the road going 45+mph the rear struts bottom out... and i mean they hit hard... seems like it bottoms out way too easily... i was looking at it today and the bottom of the springs where the coils are wound closer to each other, those coils are completely compressed together... not sure if thats supposed to happen.... now, having said that... i do have probably close to 400lbs of sound system stuff in the trunk... but i thought the springs were supposed to stiffen as force was applied to them... i thought that was the idea of the variable spring rate... the other thing that confuses me is that the paper that came with the springs says that the Eibach logo is supposed to be upright and on the rear the only way they could go on is with the logo upside down with the tighter rolled part of the springs at the bottom..

at this point im about ready to rip them back off and re-install the stock springs... i feel like i spent $250+ to make my car ride like a total piece of shit... i picked the smallest drop i could find from one of the best companies i knew of... i dont feel like i should be having these problems... the only think i know of to do would be to get some stiffer struts... but i can just see me going and spending an ass ton of cash on fancy struts and it not changing a damn thing....

sorry for the long rant.... what do you guys think? what should i do? what are your concerns... please discuss

heres a few pics of the stuff

Well, the two major problems I see is you are using oem shocks and you have a bunch of extra weight in the back. The spring doesn't do as much as you might think for absorbing bumps... a lot of it is the shock's duty. So if you think about it, in the rear you are lowering it, thus giving less room for the stock absorber to take the hit of a bump. On top of that you are adding a ton of weight. Then you take out the bump stops. It isn't surprising you are bottoming out at all. Its probably a similar story up front. The fact that the nut doesn't compress the springs shouldn't be causing your vibration. I would guess you either need an alignment from screwing around with your suspension (ive always heard it suggested you got an alignment when you take your struts out) or you have made another problem more noticeable due to lowering.

i get what your saying... i know the car needs aligned... it needed it before the drop, but i think its weared that it only vibrates when im putting power to the wheels... other than that the front works beautifully... im going to pull the rear struts in the morning... from what im reading on other forums, i have the rear springs upside down... i thought i double checked that they would only go on one way, but im going to go ahead and pull them back off and check... i will admit that i was slightly intoxicated when i installed the rear ones... i hope thats all it is with the rear... ill probably go ahead and get some new bump stops while im at it.... if that fixes it then ill go ahead and get the front end aligned... if not im going to have to find some better struts... i just dont want to pay the 80 bucks to have it aligned and still have issues and then decide to rip them back off, just to have to have it aligned again...lol... man its been a crappy week

Ok so I've got one of my struts off right now and the spring is on right.. the eibach logo is upside down but that's the only way it will fit, the diameter of the spring is different on each end... I can't see any reason to replace the bump stops as they will even further limit my suspension travel and cause it to bottom out sooner.... I'm hoping I have the correct kit.. for the rear the part number is 3850.002 and the eibach number is 280536. .. I have no clue what's going on here

I think you're shocks are worn...

And if it says that u need to mount them normal, then don't mount them upside down.

And i don't know if those are the correct springs, did u take ones that accounted for 400 pounds extra?

Thinking is the root of all problems...

You ALWAYS get what you pay for.

the shocks are new.. i installed them when i installed the springs.... upside down is the only way the will mount, and i thought i had accounted for the weight.. but i guess not... fml

well think about it.... Bump stops absorb some of the hit when you bottom out. Without them it will be much more harsh, which is what you are reporting.

The vibrating under acceleration sounds like an axle alignment problem. When I lowered my last Dodge truck the pinion angle was off and would vibrate when I accelerated. Maybe the change in the angle of the front shafts is causing that.
