Ford302Redneck
But still, is it really worth it? Magic smoke because you thought you knew what you was doing. Getting the proper bass knob is usually cheap and easy for the most part. I wouldn't risk it in most cases.
C-Fizzy
I've honestly never heard of someone smoking a knob or amp because of the wrong knob. I can't see it, unless you're an idiot and you jam the knob into the amp, thus grounding something out. It has nothing to do with jaming the knob isn't the amp, I don't see how that would make a difference. I'm not saying it has happened, but its possible. Plus BakermanINC just post in this thread he smoked a knob...but you have never heard of it.

finkster
You can do one of two things. Get the correct knob or buy a rca gain knob and you can use that one for any amp. Are you really trying to argue its ok to try different knobs in different amps, as you don't see anyway it can cause any harm?
C-Fizzy
I don't believe i ever said it was ok to try different knobs. I'm just stating the fact that when bakerman tried a different knob, there could have been other things wrong with his system that caused smoke. Such as something loose in the amp itself that grounded out the knob. Like skittles said, you never know.
