Scrapmanson Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 I'll be running a sax1200d at .5 ohms for 2sa12's just wondering if I need to upgrade any of my electrical? It's going in a crew cab silverado, I'm not sure what alt it has...I really don't want to add a battery or change alternator, hoping I could get a yellowtop optima and do big 3 and that would be enough??? Thanks!!
Bakerman Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Am I wrong, or are those amps stable at 1ohms? I tried running my saz2000d at .5 ohms, and it drew so much power, it literally turned the car off. This is my first sundown amp i've ever used, and I know that they do not like going under 12v...will go into protect immediately. I wouldn't think the the 1200 would draw that much power, but to be safe I would at least do the Big 3.
Scrapmanson Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 I'm trying to push the 2 12's, I was told to run it at .5 because I have the d2's....I've heard people running these at .5 alot so I hope I can???

__d_a_v_i_d__ Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 big 3. upgrade front. and add a batt in back just to be safe... or be sorry with low voltage, meaning its hungry and makes dirty power, clipping blowing subs and/or fry the amp =] Chevy Impala Shocker Sigs / TC Sounds 12s Sundown NS-1 | SAX 100.4 Sundown Neos | Dayton Audio Neos ETCCC ETCCC ETCCC My YouTube ---- Subcribe!!
Scrapmanson Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 Would you guys suggest I trade in my d2's for d4's and run at 1ohm? I'm just trying to run at .5 to get enough power to the subs. I originally ordered d4's but they were out...they told me I could run at .5 so that's why I got the d2's?

Scrapmanson Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 Dbr electronics... Don't get me wrong they were very helpful....but I'm not sure what to do now?
Scrapmanson Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 I possible could exchange the 1200d and get the 1500d? If that would change something?
xXxOuTLaWxXx Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 I'm very surprised DB-R would tell you that since they are an Authorized internet dealer and the specs of the amp are for 1ohm minimal load. From my understanding if you drive an amp below it's min load rating you void the warranty? Hmmm "i'd rather die like a man than live like a coward" quoted from Tupac
