Its a 96 Dodge Ram...when the truck is running at idle it says 13.7 and when i bring up the rpms over 2k it still says 13.7... Im just curious because my new amp is on the way and it says its 1krms at 14.4v so if i dont have the voltage i wont get my 1k rms?? or am i wrong? 96 Ram Build
crunkjuice1 Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Get the alternator first, Thats the foundation to your all your electrical.
BulletInjection Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 battery would not raise your voltage, alternator and or voltage regulator. My build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...8920&st=100 http://www.youtube.com/Bulletinjection

Don't worry, you won't get the 1k out of the amp anyways. Between box rise, voltage drop, db levels of music, etc you are never going to see a true 1k out of your 1k amp. It's something that everybody has to deal with. Don't be so concerned about 13.7 volts, just because a lot of people here boost their voltage up to 15.1-15.3 doesn't mean anything below 14.4 is bad. Hell just staying in the 13's is still good with the system on.
Purplehaze Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 I don't wanna say for sure, but I think all the newer Dodge/Chrysler vehicles have a set point in the PCM of around 13.6 volts. I didn't really know this, and was wanting the magic 14.4 as well, so I bought 2 Kinetik batts, and a 190 amp Load Boss. But the voltage is still the same, it's the amperage that was increased. If you want to increase the voltage, you will need a voltage modal, or regulator, what ever you want to call it. It allows you to adjust the voltage output from the alt, and it doesn't matter what alt you are using. They work on stock. PT Cary just told me about it a few days ago. fr34kout Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 He said it's a 96. I believe the regulated voltage is on the 08+
