To start off with, I am finishing up with my Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and after watching some of Steve's videos, I was inspired like many of you to overhaul my audio system. This is my first car still, and i have been working on it for about 9 months since I have to buy things in chunks when the money becomes available. Overall this is a fairly cheap system in comparison to a lot of you bassheads out there :) but it's all in the dedication of bigger and better sound right?

So here is what I have so far and I will start posting pictures and videos as soon as I can get to it:

(1) Pioneer DEH-6300UB Headunit

(2) Pioneer TS-A4674R three-way 4"x6"s

(2) Pioneer TS-A6993R five-way 6"x9"s

(2) Polk Dxi 112 12" 2 ohm subwoofer in 34 Hz tuned ported enclosure

(2) T3 Audio T.1000 12's, each in their own hand-built box at 34Hz

(1) Ultra Linear UL1700 1200W Class-AB monoblock amplifier

(1) Hifonics Brutus BRZ 2400.1

(1) Powermaster 150A alternator (Tested and found to be 176A at 14.8V)

(1) Boss 2 Farad Capacitor

(1) Kinetik HC2400

(1) Yellow Top Optima Battery

All power cables are either 0 or 2 AWG

Well welcome! Post some pics, and a lil advice. Throw those caps away, and get a big ol agm batt under the hood. And do not ever make your grounds smaller then your power wires. Keep it all the same. Dc power runs from neg to positive. And the big three is never a waist of money.

94retta: I know I need to update that 1 ground, but where I live it's an hour at best to the nearest car audio place and I can no longer have packages delivered to my house because a couple of things got stolen right out of my mailbox. I am going to try to get a hold of some 2 Awg this weekend though and hope to get it in next week during my spring break.

Got some new 2 AWG to replace the battery negative to frame and will be replacing the other 8 AWG ground as well. I just have to wait for the weather to break and then I will be posting a whole slew of photos.

Also as side note, since this is still my 1st car I have tried to keep it looking as stock as possible so that when people climbed in I could blow them away. This is also obviously the first audio system I've ever done, which is why you don't see any custom boxes or door panels.

@XX7R: People suck sometimes, but what can you do when living in a college town half a block from the bar right?

@The ScottishBear: Holy crap man, you are at a whole different level with your car. Those 10's in your door are insane man. If you haven't found out yet , there is a small vent in the trunk on the passenger side behind the carpet. I just wanted to let you know because it may have adverse effects on your infinite baffle setup, but sealing it off may not let your car get proper ventilation.

Here's the Head Unit, it's a little old but it only cost me $25 with the correct patch cable at a junk yard

The knob is just a simple 10K ohm audio pot. I used a 20 ft. phone cord that I snagged from my work with an RJ-5 connector to create a bass control knob and I felt it didn't look too bad sticking out of the ash tray. The amp I have didn't have one because a friend had given it to me and the last one to be produced was back in 2002.

DSCF0007.jpg?t=1299361040

The door speakers were just a simple swap, but I had replaced them with the ones below.

The speakers in the rear deck died, so I had replaced them with a pair of Lightning Audio 6x9. I grew tired of them and got a good pair of Pioneers after that. When They came in the mail though they didn't fit because the basket of the speaker was running into the retaining plate they were bolting into. Well, 3 Dremel steel cutting blades and 3 hours later, they fit. I can even fit the original covers over the top with them rubbing.

While the trunk is a bit cluttered right now, I hope to clean it soon. I bolted the amp and the capacitor to the top of each sub. The reason I have them in two different boxes is because I could only afford to buy one at a time, with several months of waiting in between.

DSCF0014.jpg?t=1299361568

The reason I recently bought a cap was out of curiosity. So many people say they work or don't work, but knowing how a capacitor works within a circuit, It should make a difference. It has, but I will say that it is not a cure-all.

DSCF0012.jpg?t=1299361572

I still get a little headlight dimming, which I hope to try to resolve with some new and bigger grounds once the weather clears up. I do not feel working on the car outside in THIS weather.

Thanks for the info on the vent bro. I found it when I removed the carpet. I planned on sitting my two kinetic hc600's right there. looks like we are in the same boat as far as the wheather goes. It definitely feels like I have a hand tied behind my back. (Got a condo, no garage) I have spent about 1700 so far and I can tell you without my tax return all this stuff would still be a dream. lol Keep the updates coming.
