crunkjuice1
I can put my voltage up there too the car might be fine but my batteries are 12v batteries and from XSpowers instructions of never subjecting the battery to more than 2.4 volts per cell. 14.4v for 12v batteries I try to keep the voltage around 14.4 once car warms up. crunkjuice1
correct also in another paperwork that comes with xspower batteries says not to submit them to 15v longer than five minutes.
Nathan @ XSpower
if you wanna run the 16 volt setup youll need a 16 volt alt and 14 volt batteries. but also you WILL NEED a 14 volt alt for your cars electricals. 16V batteries need a 16V alternator. A 16V alternator will charge around 19.2V. 14V batteries need a 14V alternator. 14V alternators will charge around 16.8V. 12V batteries need a 12V alternator. 12V alternators will charge around 14.4V. HHR Ed
14v batteries is a 14v setup, not a 16v setup as been stated before. I see that the OP isnt too familiar with these types of electrical systems. Therefore, I highly recommend that he just stick to the standard 12v charging system. Using 3-4 batteries on his alternator will do him great things. The added wattage from going to full 16v comes at the expense of reliability, ease of setup and service. With 16v, you will get a bit more power from your amp, but honestly, you may never be able to tell unless you have an SPL meter.
