P4killer_
So this is what Ive worked up. Everything works out nicely, and imo this is gonna be a much better 4th order than my first effort. Its .927 cuft after woofer displacement of .12 cuft sealed. 2.97 cuft after port / sealed portion displacement ported. the ratio is 1:3.2 after 45's maybe a lil bracing should knock that down some to 1:3. its 42sq inches of port tuned to 50hz. the sub will be firing sideways into the side wall btw. opinions and or ideas? thanks p4killer Edited March 15, 2011 by P4killer_ Quote Setup: 2010 Hyundai Elantra Factory Unit via 4 chan NVX LOC Excessive Amperage "H/O" Alt Xs D3400/ Xs XP3000 Big 3. 2 Runs of +, 2 Runs of - DD M3b and 2 12" AQ HDC4s
matt402
i think there would be some "trapped" air with that design. id make the sealed section shallower & the full depth of the box. what sub are u going to use in this?... RAM_Designs
id make the sealed section shallower & the full depth of the box. Agreed. Make it the full depth of the box, and invert the sub so you can tell if it's getting stinky. P4killer_
first off the specs on that box are a lil off. but the basic design is right. could you elaborate more about your suggestions? as for inverting the sub... smelling the coil is really the only benefit. if you know what your doing and understand the limits of what youve built you wont need to be able to smell the coil. Also mounting inverted imo is not beneficial other than the above. you only have one output wave. inverted, the wave is impeaded (sp?) by the motor / assembly. thus reducing overall output. Ive come across numerous situations where inverting the sub(s) impares SPL. thoughts and ideas are always appreciated. thanks again P4Killer Quote Setup: 2010 Hyundai Elantra Factory Unit via 4 chan NVX LOC Excessive Amperage "H/O" Alt Xs D3400/ Xs XP3000 Big 3. 2 Runs of +, 2 Runs of - DD M3b and 2 12" AQ HDC4s
P4killer_
NVM i got what you were saying... it would only work with an inverted sub. i dont like that but i do see what ur saying. Im gonna put my 1 12" Fubar in this. If i blow it on 1500w thats cool ill see if foreverbumpin can fab me up a recone kit. i never did a recone so it would be fun to do that. also id like to hear how 3:1 sounds peak and passband wise. as 1 15" is what im moving towards and a 3:1 BP is about the biggest i can fit with 1 15" so with this test if you will, ill be able to better design what ill like in a few weeks. ive got an idea ill post it up in a sec and maybe you might like it more. P4killer_
Alright. this should take care of standing wave issues. hell it would be much easier to build even. lemme know what you think. again ratios are off some but the idea is what matters Quote Setup: 2010 Hyundai Elantra Factory Unit via 4 chan NVX LOC Excessive Amperage "H/O" Alt Xs D3400/ Xs XP3000 Big 3. 2 Runs of +, 2 Runs of - DD M3b and 2 12" AQ HDC4s
bumonskateboard6
I feel like that triangle setup is going to sound a little weird... build a box and divide it into a partition of 1:2 to 1:3 using the whole box depth for the dividing wall. Low voltage doesn't blow amps. That's a myth. A router that does the sub holes makes rounded edges also?
matt402
i like this box better. id put a 45 from the baffle to port wall & call it good.
