Landon75 Posted March 23, 2011 Report Share Posted March 23, 2011 i just ordered a sub and its on its way. this is the first time im getting a new sub so i was wondering if its true about breaking in a sub. i hear alot of people talk about breaking it in and playing it low and getting progressively higher. Just wondering if theres any fact to "breaking in" a new sub So in short is it a myth or is a fact that you have to break it in. thanks in advance P.S. sorry if theres already a thread on this the ones ive read didnt really have an answer. sprkn_ranger Posted March 23, 2011 Report Share Posted March 23, 2011 (edited) Supposedly you aren't supposed to run subs at full power for the first few hours of play time cause it let's the suspension loosen up, but the suspension is gonna loosen up no matter what so I personally don't think it's necessary. But that's just my opinion. I know audioque recommends you to do it with their subs. Edit- I think the reason for breaking in subs is because the suspension is so stiff that it makes the motors work harder to move the cone, which means that your coils get hotter and the less cone movement means less cooling. Can someone confirm this? Thats a good way to test a mans self control. So take it easy, as long as you are not cooking them you will be good.
