And meds just arnt helping with it at all. Iv stayed in high school tryin to get my deploma cuz i REALLY dont not wana have it. But the rate im going ill be 22 before i graduate. So im wondering about going into the army? To do whatever.. Maybe something with survival or somethin? Im not sure what my options are going to be if i got a ged. If i was able to get my deploma i was going to be a pilot. But with a ged im 98% thats outa the question. So im asking what are my options of carrers with a ged if i can even get into the army. OBI Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 GED won't make it a problem at all. When I was in the Marines a lot of people only had GED's. Now the meds thing might be a problem depending on how serious your condition is. Also not sure with the Army but you ASVAB score determines on what job you can and can't get.

DO IT!!! there is sooooo much more open to you in the world with it. yes, the army is accepting GED's, but it will limit your career choices in the service. there are way too many variables to put in a single post, but if you want some real advice, just shoot me a pm, or message me.... i spent 8 years on active duty, and now i'm a civilian contractor for the DOD. but trust me... do everything you can for that diploma!!!! you never know where you'll be at in your life 5-10 years from now, and trust me, you dont want to be kicking yourself in the ass for something you gave up on when you were 17. and, if being a pilot is what you really want to do... yes, you'll have to have a diploma, but you'll also have to have a degree in order to be commisioned (unless your in for years on end and make it to warrant officer) ... but like i said... pm me, or message me, and we can talk about it... i have alot of experience with it... and PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not listen to what the recruiters tell you... they are sales men, nothing more... they will promise you the most outlandish shit, all of which isnt even possible edit: if your thinking of survival as well, there is ALOT of studying that goes into that as well. i was TACP... and trust me, you HAVE to know your books. current build: 99 bagged montero sport subs: 4 AQ HDC3 18's, walled in a clamshell box amps: subs- 2 modded AQ 2200's, running 2550 at 1 ohm each components: (rf p1 8:(midbass), 2 cadence cwm 6.5, memphis pr 6.5 coax)- each door HU: android galaxy tablet, Kenwood KVT-516 2/0 gauge ran all around 6 optima red tops (will be updated, i get them DIRT cheap) keeping my fingers crossed for membership into the 160 db club! bre2ts Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Well I can only speak for the AF. A recruiter can only use like 1% of his yearly recruits on GEDs. That being said his supervisor also needs to approve you as well before they even send up a package for you to join. Also the AF is the only branch in the military where it doesn't let enlisted pilot(excluding UAVs). If you are having a hard time focusing and passing highschool what would make you think it would be any different in flight school? where the difficulties will be much higher. Career options will be dependent on how you score on your ASVAB. I say suck it up finish high school so you don't have to run the risk of not being accepted into the military. As for survival career fields, theyre a pretty tough my first AFSC was SERE till I washed out of it. They are pretty rigorous and they too require alot of focus and not just brut strength. Some say they wont except geds, some say you just wont get any bonuses.. Even the army sit itself gives off mixed signals. Hah as far as the meds go.. Its for adhd or some crap? Like i said ill be able to do it ill just be 22 when i finally do. And right now i have about 9 months then i have to move out (live with my sister) so i dont see how i can support myself and still be in high school. But the ged route im lookin at about a year. Yea you may not be able to go out and do what you want to do when you want to but in the long run it'll be worth it.
