2004 GMC envoy second alt

Recommended Posts

Hey Matt,

I wanted to see if you have any way i can get some extra amperage out of my current setup. I have a 2004 GMC Envoy with the I-6 engine and you hooked me up with the 270 amp alt from you that i totally love. I would really want to get a second alt in there because i am about to have around 16kw give or take rms for a system and i dont think a 270 amp alt will cut it. I right now have all the big-3 done with an xs s3400 and d3100 in the truck and it works perfect. I just want to know if there is any way i can get a second alt into that small ass engine bay without having to cut at the frame or take out the air compressor or other equipment. Please let me know if you can do something for this.

Thanks!!

Man, unfortunately space is space. It isn't going to be easy to fit another alternator. Sometimes we will take on custom jobs like this, but: 1) we have to have the vehicle in the shop to do it, and 2) $79 an hour fab time adds up quick.

haha yea i figured it would be pretty costly and not easy to do. I just thought id ask because another guy on here did a second alt setup with his envoy so i figured id see if it would be a benefit or not. besides we are too far apart from eachother to drop off my truck to you.

And i was wondering, i plan to run two massive audio db8000's in my truck. They say it can take around 300 amps of power and im going to have it at .25 ohms strapped (if it works) Initially i am going to keep my s3400 and d3100 to run it until i get some more d3100's. MY question is how many 3100's do you think i should get as extras for the rear of my truck near the amps and will my 270 amp alt keep up and not die from having that much of a load on it?

Thanks again!!!!
