Sold my car, wanna start my next setup. Amp and box question.

Recommended Posts

So I sold my first car yesterday :(

It had a new HU and speakers all from clarion. I left those in the car. I took the sub/amp/box though.

So now I'm looking for a new car and in the mean time I am looking to sell my pioneer sub and maybe the alpine amp.

I have a sub at home which is a 4ohm DVC alpine type-s 12. It's rated at 300 watts RMS. So I have a sub.

I also have a shitty pre fab sealed box. I dont really have the cash or tools to make my own.

So this leaves me with 3 questions for you guys.

1. Can you recommend me an amp under 150$ that will give me 300watts rms or around that at 2 ohms?

2. Will an 8g amp kit be enough for 300 watts rms? I plan to upgrade the speakers but I wont be amping them.

3. Is there any way to slightly improve my existing prefab box? I heard I can caulk the edges and that will help.

Thanks!

a little more specific mono amp?

and go ahead and invest atleast in a 4g amp kit.

My old sys did maybe.. 500rms and 8g did the job for me.

You definitely do not need 4g amp kit for only 300wrms. An 8gauge kit should do fine.

This amp should work fine at 2ohm and put out the power you want, it's $170 so just save up that extra $20 or so :)

Bassless once again. Can't seem to keep a system for more than a few weeks :)

Saving for a '06 Nissan 350z, look for build around June 2012.

Thanks guys! And yeah, looking for a mono amp. I'll check out that kicker, I saw it before and liked it.

What about this one?

The one you posted was 400rms at 2ohms, isnt that a little much? This one will be 300 @ 2ohms which is exactly what I need. And those 20$ can go towards the amp kit. Thoughts?

Any other advice about the box or amp kit would be fine. I think I'll go with 8g but still wanna do a little more research.

always keep the stock system for when you sell your car you then get to keep the stuff you spent good money and time on <_<

Well this wasnt rly an expected sell and a lot of the stocker stuff was broken. But I didnt wanna keep the speakers. the headunit would of been nice though but we worked it out in the sell.

I'm looking at some low level JVC, Dual, Pioneer or sony HU for under 100. I only need 1 pre am out for the sub. I dont plan to run amped speakers.

Didn't notice the Kicker Zx300 lol, yeah that should work great :D

I'd personally get a JVC, given the brands you've listed. Mine cost like $100 and works fine, better than my $300 flipout touchscreen one :P

is it a 3 amp out? B/c the one I saw was a JVC at walmart that was like 70$ and had 3 pre amp outs which blows my mind since most HU with that many are like 170+. Makes me questions how good it is but how bad can a HU really be in general. I rly like the button layout.
