04SDExplorer Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 I have a 2004 ford explorer 4.6 v8, with the equipment listed in my sig..my normal "cold" start voltage is 14.1v it settles to 13.7v-13.8v. Wondering why my voltage isn't a little higher. I was told the setpoint in newer explorers was around 13.6 or so. The amount of batteries and alt amperage don't affect the charging voltage Op if you don't like that voltage, get a VCM from Mechman and set it to whatever voltage pleases you. With the cooler weather I see voltage from 15.5 cold to 14.8 after warm up. In the Summer was around 15.1 on start and 14.6 after vehicle ran for a while. 04SDExplorer Posted April 20, 2011 Author Report Posted April 20, 2011 Also, i don't have the extra cash for a lot of 1/0 right now to do additional runs from front to back, but will adding a 2nd run between the back batteries help with less voltage drop?
