I guess I could try freeairing each speaker to see? I mean it would make more sense that the kicker kicked off when BOTH rca sides are connected L/R but if I just connect one L RCA it works. Sammitch0 Posted April 6, 2011 Author Report Posted April 6, 2011 Ok, so i just went outside I plugged in my speakers individually and only ONE of them didnt static out and kick the amp into over current (using an xplod right now since my KICKER doesnt have protection lights for testing.) I find from volume 1-39 they dont static but if I go over that hey static and eventually kick off. I cant see how 3 out of 4 of my speakers are grounding out, makes no sense last night we REDID my fronts perfectly so those ARENT grounding out. Guys Im so friggin lost >.< I also checked each speaker tinsil leads are intact and the terminals are far from the door panels metal. I guess I could rerun NEW wire to the speakers, but I kinda JUST did that recently ugh I cant believe NOBODYS had this problem before I would think its my headunit but the subwoofer works FINE and I dont see how BOTH outputs for the highs amp could be gone on the headunit just doesnt make sense, plus I havnt changed ANYTHING for it to stop working, went fine for like 3 months then one day im sitting there and it does this. I also dont get why when I was running the KICKER (when this started) it started working for like a day then did it again, I also dont se ehow it could be my ground since my sub amp is running off the SAME ground with NO problems. UGH! n8ball2013 Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 btw the seat bolt is not a good ground. ground should be to the frame of your vehicle or to the floor pan of a unibody car. the seat belt bolt is usually a reinforced area with another heavier gauge metal welded in. its going to cause a higher resistance. Just because it works doenst make it proper. Sammitch0 Posted April 6, 2011 Author Report Posted April 6, 2011 Well it works for my subwoofer and it has worked since my first install (years ago) and has never caused problems... So I doubt it's that I've also wiggled it around and tightened it to no avail so I doubt it's amplifier grounding. I tried each speaker individually and only ONE works so I hardly doubt its bad speaker wires concidering I just ran new ones. and BOTH preouts on my headunit (I have 2 outputs and a SW) do the SAME thing (is it possible they BOTH went?) and IVE TRIED TWO AMPLIFIERS to no avail and it does it on BOTH sides (RCA wise/speaker wise) I told you it doesnt make sense... Is there any TESTING I can do to check if its the outputs on the headunit or to see if the ground indeed IS bad? I know its not the amplifiers for sure cause they BOTH do the same thing and they BOTH work in other vehicles. I will switch my ground eventually, and I will be getting a new alpine headunit (pioneers been NOTHING but problems since day one) if it's the outputs, but I really dont have $200 to drop on a good HU and I bought this one for the 4v preouts... n8ball2013 Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 you could check and see if its putting out any voltage from your rcas. it should be ac voltage I believe. try swapping a different one in. pioneers have more issues with blwon outputs than any ive seen. As far as the ground goes, yea its convenient place and might work for your application, however if you were to throw some real power in there you would more than likely see problems. Just buy a self tapper and hook it up to your body or frame. Its cheap and quick man, no need to get defensive ppl are just here to try and help you out brobi-wan kanobi. Bang em if you got em

I bet they slammed the door and it caused something to come loose and ground out. one short will shut the whole amp down. n8ball2013 Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 pioneers are notorious for bad rcas. 4 do you have a spare speaker layign around? can be the crappiest beat up one you can find. unhook all the speakers in your door and hook up the speaker to a terminal 1 at a time. see what happens.
