RF amps shut off at 16.0 I had one the was 15.6 volts warm but cold was ~16 volts and my amps wont even turn on lol. No, I know why it was orange. I would NOT recommend doing it on ONE alt and not the others. If I understand correctly, If the regulator see higher voltage it turns itself down so in theory you would be cranking the others done defeating the purpose. I know right , thanks to them being out of stock I made it my self LOL. This trick and a Stinger Voltage gauge and your all set. Using different size diodes will allow for a fine tune as well. lower tuning is just hard. People may not want to risk their 12v battery getting like 17volts. I know you said what resistors and alt you have, but the resistors may have different results on different alts. They also might try different size resistors.
