I know a local company makes a plug and play harness using a diode on one of the wires on the alternator harness, so after I did some bench tests I installed it. I have a 2001 Impala 3.8L and it works great. I am using 2 6amp diode in series which takes me to 15.2 volts warmed up. I had a XS Vcm in my 97 blazer with no issues @ 15.3. I'm looking for opinions of this mod before I leave it in long term. I'm still waiting for my H/O alt. lower tuning is just hard. My driving voltage is 15.2, and when cold it's as high as 15.6 sometimes, haven't had an issue with it. I notice my heated seats along with the rear defroster work a lot better. First System 2002 Impala LS 3.8L V6, 128,365k miles. Alternator: DC Power 190Amp H/O Alternator Headunit: Kenwood KDC-BT945U. Speakers: MBQuart 6.5" Comps, 6x9 3-way. Amplifer: Eclipse 3322 on front 6.5 components, and a Infinity Kappa One @ 2ohm- 800w Subwoofers: 2 REAudio SRX12D2 wired to 2 ohm. Yea it took some tinkering to get exactly what I wanted. My XS VCM had 15.3 as a threshold so this is what I wanted. so far the highest its went up to is 15.5. My alt ships in the morning so soon my charging should be legit lower tuning is just hard. RF amps shut off at 16.0 I had one the was 15.6 volts warm but cold was ~16 volts and my amps wont even turn on lol. lower tuning is just hard.
