Anyone still doing this? trying to figure out the sensing wire for my 99 jeep cherokee 4.0

My friend had a 1996 Cherokee with the 4.0 and it was externally regulated from the factory. Had a field terminal and everything. If that's the case with yours you could just get one of the blue transpo regulators and wire it up

Only reason I ask: Are you sure this will work for you?

  • 2 years later...

I know this thread is old but i found something that might be useful

i have gotten the diodes to work on mopar alts, i have a 05 pacifica and the alt only has the 2 field wires

In my case i tapped into the wire from the fuse box to the pcm (in my case fuse39 org/red wire) that is unswitched with ignition

the pcm reads and adjusts your voltage based on this wire

it's a 20a fuse so i used a 30a Schottky diode

my voltage went from 13.6 to 13.9 hot (still 13.6 at pcm)

I'm going to order some more diodes from mouser to do a bit more testing
