5K Mobile Electronics Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 Loving the dash, I never thought of just rebuilding one of those, but it looks effin sick with the changes you've made, some are major, some parts just subtle, but all around pretty damn sweet. I would have thought for sure you were going with aftermarket gauges, but the factory ones look better there like you have it. And how messy is that chop gun, I've been wanting to pick one up, but I personally haven't used one, my buddy has one at his shop but stopped using it. He said that thing got everywhere. Whats the site you guys are getting the quality resin and mat again? Cant remember the site...its time to start working. More links/pics/vids of other builds please!

tahoexfixssd Posted August 25, 2011 Author Report Posted August 25, 2011 ray- ----------yes benchmark is the shop i work at, back in the late 90's early 00s it was the place to be. the installers there wer well recognized with mag covers and what not. they have since left and the call for expensive elaborate systems has gone down in the area and no one wants to drop the money that they charge, usually a customer will come in and get a quote on something crazy and shit their pants at the price, then i get a request from them on FB that night lol. i am alot cheaper than shops, i enjoy doing it so i dont feel the need to charge an arm and a leg. also i dont even use the nice resin from US. i just use lowes resin! haha. i make sure its not old first tho, but i have used some expensive evercoat resin before and its not much dif. other than the color change when mekp is added. 5k mobile--------- thanks! and i am going with aftermarket gauges. Dakota digital...but it will be the stock gauge cluster from them just digital, i didnt want to use universal because of the hassle of doing all the sensors. the plug and play one all you have to add is the gear sensor. im also taking the shroud of off it and making a window out of plexi. the chopper gun is very messy. did not work well on the inside of the box. but for the kicks it was great becasue it gives it a nice even coat all around and no lines from mat overlapping. i did not buy the resin gun because of funds and it looked to messy for what i wanted. i jsut paint and roll. hot dog---- thanks man! you saw some of the better work last year at the DTF show. sorry to say most nice installs i have done no longer exsist. i have a number of builds on here you will prolly just have to search tahoexfixssd. or kylediablo on CA. i think i have had problems finding alot of them on here. if not i wll post some of the better pics later. i have tried before submitting an email to car audio and electronics magazine for some of this stuff. once when i was 18 and then i did a couple months ago. i give them alot of credit for my work. i learned alot of what i know from their mags growing up. got a subscription to them when i was 8 ... i figured it may make a nice article or something considering some of the other crap ive seen in their from ppl older than me....but i guess they didnt think so. o well NOVEMBER 2008 SYSTEM OF THE MONTH!
