Surface area on the 18's combined would be 2420 cm^2 Air Mass Volume based on Xmax(one direction) * Surface area = 7260 cm^3 Surface area on the 10's combined would be 3010 cm^2 Air Mass Volume based on Xmax(one direction) * Surface area = 5418 cm^3 Combined RMS handling for the 2 18's and 10 10's are identical. Box requirement for the 18's would be 16 cubes, the 10's would require 12.5 And details that may be asked for specifics: Amplifiers would be 2 AQ 2200's. Alts would be 500 amps at revs 2 D3100's in the back. TO BE CLEAR AS TO THE PURPOSE OF THIS THREAD Discuss the benefits or downsides to either two large subs or running many smaller subs. In the realm of SQ, SPL, and general logistics of pulling it off.

Bassless once again. Can't seem to keep a system for more than a few weeks Saving for a '06 Nissan 350z, look for build around June 2012.

Regarding multiple sub-woofers is there an issue with running many subs off a single amplifier in the sense that impedances aren't going to be the usual 1,2,4? 5 subs (DVC 4ohms) in parallel to the amp should give 1.6 Ohms if I did my math right. Do amplifiers care at all? I'm assuming not, but I want to cover my bases.

This is what I've been under the impression of, also why I put the statistic up top. Is there a way to mathematically calculate potential SPL or are there far too many variables when it comes to box design, sub true Xmax, etc..?
