kickass audio Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Ok, so first i want to say sorry to the mods as i dont know where this topic should have went so i decided general audio was a good place for it. Now onto business. I have two blown (burnt actually) 12" kicker CVX subwoofers (the old i believe 2005 style with the vent in the magnet) and i want to see how much, if at all possible i can get a recone or something like this built for it. I would really like to make the woofers myself as i want to learn how its done, i dont expect them to be ground pounders since i have my smd for that. I just want somewhere around 500-800w rms in either a dual 2 or dual 4 ohm coil configuration. I know theres a ton of guys on here who rebuild and make custom woofers like its their full time job and they do some fantastic work so i figured id poke around on here to see if anybody has any suggestions or possibilities on how or where i should go to get a cone, spider(s), coil, surround, all the parts to make a subwoofer to fit the stock basket of the kicker cvx's. I have one of the woofers already intact but another one was torn apart to the bare frame for me to repair one of my dads old ass subwoofers i broke when i was like 7. So please if someone knows where or how i can get parts to build a custom woofer for two 12" kicker CVX baskets and motors please shoot me a pm or reply to this thread as i want to make one myself from scratch. Or if you maybe it would be best just to sell the damn things let me know. Im up for all ideas on this. I think TeamPSI/FixMySpeaker over on CACO would probably have parts they could send you, I remember someone wanted 2 CVX's reconed and it was like 170 for the pair of recones, that was with PSI installing the recone though, so figure a less for them to send you the parts. ¿ǝɯɐƃ ǝɥʇ Trolls never learn............ Forevrbumpn Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 I could make it look cool, and get louder I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

Im not really going to need more power than what the stock cvx's do since i will just use that for in my bedroom. I want to upgrade from my kicker cvr 10 in my room to a 12 and make it look sweet. Can you get me a price on how much it would cost to get the parts and materials needed to recone my subs? I would really like to learn how to do this myself just for a fun project to do on the side until i can get into the big build on my truck. The parts i would need are a cone, coil, surround, spiders, coil gap tool, and some epoxy. With my current subs i only have the basket and motors left along with the stock spring loaded terminals and the beauty ring for the surround landing. For looks i would love to have a midnight blue cone and if possible dustcap or a midnight blue cone and black dust cap. I would also like to see about getting 2 spiders for my setup instead of one (if you think it would be a good idea for it). Im really going for a sq setup but one that will still get fairly loud when you crank it up.
