Does deadener make a difference you ask? LOL, and how many builds on here do you see with people taking the extra step of ripping all the interior out and putting that shit everywhere? Just about everyone on here, couldn't of asked a more dumb question that is like asking if subs are loud...LOL, read into that however you want, I just got a nice lil laugh when I read thru this. You do know that all cars are deadened from the factory in the floor pan or trunk right? Some more then others, that is why they are called luxury.

someone still butthurt? LOLOLOLOL, find me where i said anything mean or degrading to the OP. PLEASE.

now that you tried and found nothing, i stated Winn has been here for quite some time, has seen and discussed in many deadener topics. he has in fact seen or read about almost all the deadeners out there, is able to find prices and reviews on almost all of them. only thing done here is technically asking what the best would be, which would be comparing all deadeners against each other where opinions are going to be biased, essentially a VS thread. but point made, ignored and ignored ;)

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

I don't see why everyone recommends fatmat.

I bought some for a good deal, used half of it and sold it. The stuff i got was crap, the stuff is rubber and the adhesive (if you can even call it that) was a joke.

The best part of fatmat is the roller they give you to use on secondskin. :drinks:

i resolve to be a nicer moderator.

Tercel build R.I.P.

Eclipse build Old New

V-Dub

Just by replying I can only assume you know which deadener I would recommend first...

If you are seriously having trouble choosing which sound deadening mat to go with there is an easy solution... buy the highest quality mat that you can afford.

And when I say the highest quality mat, I mean a mat that consists of a high grade butyl core with a thick aluminum foil. There are plenty of them out there and aren't hard to find (if you want to name names, I can).

There are still a several companies out there that are selling overpriced and less effective asphalt/rubber/bitumen mixed mats, rebadged roofing products, or ones lacking any sort of stiff constrained layer. Most of these lower grade options have some easy to spot differences such as:

• They smell (if it smells like asphalt, it's more likely than not has asphalt in it)

• They come on a roll (not all)

• They are owned by a parent company that makes roofing products

And since a particular brand was mentioned (FatMat) I will give you the specs for this product as well as the specs of Dynamat Xtreme (since it's everywhere).

FatMat

50 mils total thickness

2 mil foil

.32 lbs per sq foot

Rubberized asphalt

Dynamat Xtreme

67 mils total thickness

4 mil foil

.45 lbs per sq foot

Butyl adhesive

So there is some info to chew on.
