I use my BB to feed my headunit media, and it SUCKS for SQ. CDs sound absolutely stunning and crystal clear, while the best media I've played through my BB sound OK. Most sound terrible. I don't want to go the Apple route- what's left???

Thanks guys. Just LOVE this place.

if you go through your BB you are using it's processing and feeding that information to the HU. so it wont matter how good the file is. using an ipod as a hard drive, or just an external hard drive, works great. if you use a 3.5mm jack or bluetooth you will have reduced quality because you will rely on the capabilities of a lesser unit.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.

I thought most headunits couldn't play flac and other lossless files?

The apple route sucks. Not sure why but quality sucks through iPod/ iPhone even if good quality on iTunes. I use a SD card or USB with the music in good quality for best results or buy CDs.

please explain how the apple route sucks... i have an iphone 4 and the quality from it is great. via usb.

the only way to get alright quality out of an ipod/iphone is to use it as a harddrive. even then still not great

Agreed I play through the USB function on my Kenwood (which lets me control through my iPhone 4) and I mainly download in WAV (which is lossless and most portable music players and head units support it)

WAV and FLAC are the same thing, fyi. Both are lossless formats which can convert to each other with no degrading of the file.
