trjohnst
So I currently need more power for my AQ HDC3 15s. I am trying to run one (once i figure out my ports for the box), with 2 JL 500/1 amps but I am a little afraid that something bad might happen if they arent putting out the exact same. But my question is, is it safe to run 2 of these amps, 1 on each coil. The sub is D2 and the amps are 1.5 ohm stable a piece so it should work. I have heard it is not recommended and i assume that is because if one pushes more power than the other, it will cause a problem. Does anyone have any suggestions on if this is safe? 1991 Accord Audioque HDC3 15" (Copper)<--Sub Audioque HDC3 15" (Copper)<--Backup Sub Crescendo BC2000D<--Amp Big 3 1/0 Knu<--Wiring Eonon 3.5" DVD<--Headunit Infinity Kappa Perfect<--Mids & Highs 2nd Stock 80Amp alt. 1991 Mustang 5.0 Too many mods (Sold) 1991 240sx SR20 Red Top Too many mods (Sold) 2004 GTO Just starting mods
C-Fizzy
Of course it's safe. As long as you gain match the amps. That doesn't mean turn the gains to the same position tho, you actually have to match the gains output voltages. You'd need a dmm. under construction I hate People with crappy primered cars rolling on hubcaps that are louder then me. u hate c-fizzy?
trjohnst
Thats what I figured I had to do, so I will have to buy one eventually. How bad can it be to the sub if they arent set the same? 1991 Accord Audioque HDC3 15" (Copper)<--Sub Audioque HDC3 15" (Copper)<--Backup Sub Crescendo BC2000D<--Amp Big 3 1/0 Knu<--Wiring Eonon 3.5" DVD<--Headunit Infinity Kappa Perfect<--Mids & Highs 2nd Stock 80Amp alt. 1991 Mustang 5.0 Too many mods (Sold) 1991 240sx SR20 Red Top Too many mods (Sold) 2004 GTO Just starting mods
C-Fizzy
You'll have the coils fighting each other. It'll work. No telling how long the sub will last tho. under construction I hate People with crappy primered cars rolling on hubcaps that are louder then me. u hate c-fizzy? TeamHT
why those two amps? do you already own the amps? Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
trjohnst
why those two amps? do you already own the amps? Ya, I've had them for a while, never had any problem and provide sufficient power. Now that I got these subs, they don't have enough for me anymore. It seems like one has more power than the other but im not sure on that, thats why I dont know if it is good to hook them both up to the sub because 1 of the amps might have more power than the other. 1991 Accord Audioque HDC3 15" (Copper)<--Sub Audioque HDC3 15" (Copper)<--Backup Sub Crescendo BC2000D<--Amp Big 3 1/0 Knu<--Wiring Eonon 3.5" DVD<--Headunit Infinity Kappa Perfect<--Mids & Highs 2nd Stock 80Amp alt. 1991 Mustang 5.0 Too many mods (Sold) 1991 240sx SR20 Red Top Too many mods (Sold) 2004 GTO Just starting mods
