Second Skin Audio

Recommended Posts

Let me first start off that I have been using dynamat and hushman for the last 8 years, love the product and never thought twice about using anything else. Joined SMD this past October and started doing some research on some other alternatives, since there is quite a few to choose from now. Second skin naturally was a great choice. Compared to dynamat extreme, I would use the damplifier pro EVERYTIME. You couldn't give me dynamat after using damplifier pro. I used it on my doors and it is great, does the job like it should for my application. I have quite a bit of flex that I was trying to limit, the damplifier pro reduced it alot. So.....

I decided to do the floor of my sierra, did a layer or two or three or four, lost count, just used what I had left until it was gone. Then began to spray the spectrum over that. I honestly didn't think it could get any better, but every coat I added every hour, the better and better it seemed to get. Exactly what I was looking for. Great product guys and I am so glad I got 5 gallons of this stuff.

Question: I am going to spray this under my floor pan and frame, I plan on cleaning the surface with simple green/purple power first, then 5-6 coats like I did on the inside? Thanks

And Pics....

Even did the gas pedal arm cuz I liked the look of this stuff so much.

Floor is already feeling pretty solid, should be even better the more this stuff cures.

Awesome work and great pics.

Yeah just get the underside nice and clean with any degreaser/cleaner of your choice (as long as it's not citrus oil based) and get a good several coats on there and you'll have that floorpan sandwiched!

Thanks, that was the answer I was looking for. How long should I let the underside cure before it is road worthy? Thanks!!!!

Edit: Just so you know I am not on any kind of time constraint, I am going to let the inside cure with the doors open for a week before I put the interior/carpet back down, just so you know.

Most of the time it only takes a day or two before you can drive it without any worries. I was driving around within 10 hours (sprayed it in the morning, driving it that night) and it's still stuck on there after all these years.

Again, depends on the thickness.

1 gallon will give you about 40 sq. ft. of coverage at 1mm thick. At 2mm thick, 20 sq. ft., and so on.

With 5 gallons you get a hell of a lot covered. At 1mm, thats about 200 sq. ft., 2mm, thats about 100 sq. ft., 3mm, thats almost 70 sq. ft..
