jl13w7freak Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 I have a SPL Gorilla 5500 Watt Amp. and i think its clipped. Everytime it comes on it will play ok and then when i turn up the volume it sounds distorted. I turned down the gain and everything and sometimes it will still do it. Could it be a power issue because I have 2 batteries in my truck and one of them came out of an 18 wheeler. Im just asking because none of the protection lights are on so i know it isn't short circuited or anything. So what do u guys think. I even thought about connecting a crossover and turning the amp down very low and then set the bass eq on the crossover instead of the amp. Do u think that would help take so pressure off of the amp?

But if it still sounds distorted with the gain all the way down then it sounds like the HU, sub, or box. i resolve to be a nicer moderator. Tercel build R.I.P. And the enclosure is the specified one from the jl website. It fine top.

Should just post up your box specs up here just to make sure, if theres something wrong with it someone on here can catch it, save you all the headaches of figuring out whats wrong. Maybe try turning all the gains down fully and any bass booster on your HU. Also try a different pair of RCA`s, if their faulty it can cause distortion sometimes. i shook this one kids hand and it just folded in mine. long story short i fucked his girlfriendso.. yeah..
